yeah I know, these are fighting words but at this point its necessary to bring this to light.
TL;DR at the bottom.
I have been eyeing the Superforged (SF) big brake kit for a while but have been hesitant to pull the trigger due to the pricing. Finally one night in the beginning of march I decided to say F' it and pull the trigger on the brakes. As most know the stock brakes are way underwhelming at high speed and the upgrade is needed. I had looked around at different vendors and landed on Hell Horse Performance (HH) since they had a discount code of Tyler Clark and didn't charge tax. Another thing that made me confident on the purchase is having Tyler as their discount code option knowing that he has a solid reputation with the ST community and I wouldn't expect him to allow his name to be used for a company that would be shady. Anyway, I make my order and I get the confirmation email from HH later that morning that my order was in and a "ticket" was created on my behalf. Now, knowing that SF makes their brakes custom, I knew that I would be in for a wait for about 30 days or so from my understanding that others have had to wait and also stated on SF's website.
I was a bit confused on why I was given a "ticket number" so I had emailed into HH asking why I got a ticket versus an order receipt. I got a prompt email response from Sam Reeves over at HH saying that I was all good and that they have received my order and the system automatically creates a ticket. I was satisfied that that response so I put my hands in my lap and waited for my order confirmation being shipped in a few weeks - I was excited.
March 11th I had sent an email asking if it would be too late to update the color and rotor style and got an email from Kaleb Williams on March 17th stating that he can check if they have it available. Not hearing back after about 2 weeks I reached out via phone to see if I could actually talk to someone and see where they were with my order and the possibility to change colors (I would have been fine if the order was already in process nonetheless). When I called the day prior I got their VM so I chalked it up to being later in the day and would try the next day. I ended up calling again the next day and was able to get through to Kaleb - which caught him by surprise as he answered the phone by saying, "hello?". He sounded like he was in his car but was courteous and asked how he could help. I asked him if he had an update on the color change option that I asked about over email and he asked for my order number. I gave it to him and he was able to find me and said, "oh, the Superforged brakes? Yeah I need to reach out to them again. Their rep we used to work with is no longer there so I need to send an email to see who our new rep is going to be." I was a little concerned at this time since it was almost a month out already and they still had no heard from Superforged. Kaleb said that they are a little hard to get a hold of over at Superforged but he would work on it the next day and get an update. If the process was taking too long he was happy to refund me my money or he might have another option that would be cheaper if I wanted to go that route. Still feeling confident in HH I told him id wait to hear from him and whatever update he got from SF.
A few days go by and I got no email or call from HH so I decided to reach out to SF myself. After looking through the forums to see if there was any issues with SF and delivery (didn't find any) I saw that Bruce from SF had left his contact info on one of the posts so I decided to reach out.
When reaching out to Bruce via text message he quickly responded back advising me that he has not received any orders from HH since 2023. He stated that there's also no chance that he would have missed the order because they would have to send a request then SF would send a link to them with their cost breakdown and they would utilize that link as a way to complete the order. Bruce had stated that HH done something similar to this to another customer before in the past, and again, confirmed that there was no outstanding order for the brakes that I purchased. Bruce suggested that we set up a zoom meeting for the next day so we can discuss what happened with HH and what the next steps would be.
After having the zoom with Bruce it was decided that Bruce would help me with my brake purchase and that I was going to cancel my order with HH and request a refund. I no longer felt comfortable with working with HH and their lack of communication and lying to me about their contact with SF. That night I sent an e-mail to HH requesting a refund and a cancellation of my order. I got a confirmation that my e-mail went through and got a request ID number which stated that I should receive a reply within the next two business days - I never got that reply. I emailed again on April 7th asking for an update on my cancellation and refund request and did not get reply then either.
After waiting another 2 weeks of no responses I felt it necessary to open a dispute with my credit card company for the close to $4000 that I paid to HH. Bruce sent me and email stating that he never got an order from HH for me and hadn’t gotten one in over 2 years to send as proof of goods not provided to me for my credit card company. Once I made the dispute I was confident the matter would be resolved with my credit card company and I ordered directly through Bruce. it has been 30 days since I made my order. Bruce has communicated that issues with tariffs have made thing a little more complex and causing delays in my order. Im almost kind of over this process as I was already let down by HH and now there are more delays with SF.All I wanted was my brakes and im still in a holding pattern getting a bad taste in my mouth.
Fast forward to today. I have yet to hear back from HH via e-mail or phone call in regard to my order or my cancellation or my refund. I did get a call today though - from my credit card company specifically stating that HH has declined Wells Fargo’s request to refund me. They called me and asked if I had received the product yet – which I have not. They said they'll reach out in another 30 days /sigh.
