Safety Recall #26S21/NHTSA Recall 26V165:
Issue: Brief interruptions less than 1 sec in rear view camera image and driver assistance features. This recall is my 3rd recall for this vehicle which is less than 18 months old.

Looks like the recall applies only to certain MY20 and MY21 Explorers...

The remedy for that one is out. But if you have the full screen Fmod carplay mod, you may want to hold off. The software update wipes the mod and is a new build, so the current FS mod will not work with it. Need the Fmod guys to roll out an updated version.

I've seen a few folks on the FB groups lose the FS mod.

I was using my phone as a hotspot for something completely unrelated, and ended up downloading the update over wifi. It had no effect on the fullscreen mod in my case. I know another member on here installed the update via usb and said it wiped the mod from his.

Followup to my 28 JUNE 2026 post: RE: Yet Another Recall

Before I went on vacation, I noticed the dashboard had a message: PARK BRAKE LIMITED FUNCTION. Upon return, I noticed the message was still there. Today I took my ST back to the selling dealership for:
1)Service
2) Recall #26S21/NHTSA #26V165 (Rear View Camera and Driver Assist Features).
3) PARK BRAKE LIMITED FUNCTION issue.
My Service Advisor stated that the Park Brake Limited Function issue was "tied into" the problems from Recall #26S21. Many of the related issues were being corrected via the Ford Computer System but this one unfortunately required a trip to the Dealership.

I did the recall sync update today at the dealership.
Only thing I noticed different with this software recall is the rear camera is so much more clearer and crisp now.

Ford did my sync recall yesterday (mobile service). The tech said sometimes the software won’t load on certain vehicles. Mine did and it seems ok. Maybe the system/screen loads a little quicker on start up? I could be imagining things too I guess.

I doubt it will. The parking brake is due to the rear axle bolt breaking. And nothing to do with the camera.

The "band-aid" has pretty much become industry standard on vehicles with EPBs. It's not going away.

Believe it or not, the Sync upside down screen is the one and only recall I’ve had on my ‘23.

My wifes new Honda has had two.

TBH, I have a lot of peers who have software related recalls on their vehicles. Seems most are rear camera related. I need to handle one for my parents on their Volvo for a software update pertaining to camera.

Two of my cars don’t even have rear cameras, so I’m still a mirror guy.
