winter: Block heater or oil pan heater pad

Hi all - has anyone used either a magnetic engine heater or a stick on oil pan heater on this engine? I knew the oil pan was plastic, but there really does not seem to be any other flat metal surface to use these aftermarket heaters.

I am in the upper midwest and experience some very cold mornings regularly. The OE block water heater is definitely an option, but i imagine it will be pricey to install and it's beyond my skills to DIY.

I’ve never even heard of a magnetic engine heater or stick on oil pan heater, but I’d definetly say its safe to say the OE option would be the best.
