Whirling Noise at High Speeds

Hello all,

New here to the Explorer ST community but have been lurking for the past month and a half to see if anyone has had a similar issue.

I purchased a brand new 2025 Explorer ST in September and love it. However, whenever I jump on the freeway there is a noticeable whirling, whistling, hum when I get above 60mph slightly touching the gas. Somewhat faint at 60mph-69mph, a little louder at 75mph-79mph, loudest at 85mph +.

I immediately brought it to the dealer after I discovered the issue and they told me that the rear alignment was out of spec. Didn’t fix the issue.

Brought it back again and the dealership promised the Service Director would go for a ride and get to the bottom of it. Left the car with them for a week they brought in a Ford Engineer and they claim they hear nothing abnormal. On top of that, the Service Director claims to be hard of hearing so that was really helpful.

At this point I feel crazy but I recently took a video where there is no way you can’t hear it and see that it only occurs when foot is on the pedal.

I come here to ask advice on what my options are. I am still well under warranty. Do I bring it back to the same dealership? Try a different dealership? Did I get sold a lemon? Any ideas what the noise is?

All feedback is appreciated. If I can find a way to post the clip of the noise here I will for others to provide input. Sorry new to the whole forum thing.

Edit: here is video of the noise. Notice without pressing gas it goes away. https://youtube.com/shorts/Jlz3y2OZUfA?si=XfdW_cl3CL0UomfZ

Try a different dealer.

I agree with the advice from 2020FordRaptor above. The dealer I purchased my ST from has a worthless service department so I just went to a different Ford dealer in my area and the difference in attitude and helpfulness is night and day. Good luck.

Check underneath for a loose sound deadening panel. it's a common issue for those to be missing one of more of those silly plastic fasteners. If you do it yourself and find one missing, a M6 nut with a flat washer is the fix.
Or you can take it back to your dealer and have them do it. Good luck.
