Anyone trade their Explorer that has been tuned? Hearing dealer will not give jack squat for it or maybe min. If best…any advice or has anyone traded in and what did they give you as far as value?

Reflash to stock for the sake of the new owner.

I forgot to "uninstall" my cobb tune from my 2015 subaru forester XT. It wasn't anything crazy but did improve the day to day of that vehicle. Well I was like OH i have the cobb tuner and all , maybe I can use for the ST when I bought it. Nope Cobb refused to budge coming down like $100 if that for a ST tune because I never removed the tune from the XT.

They were kinda pompous about the situation if you ask me. The vehicle was 9 years old at that point. Not like I'm trying to scam was an honest mistake.

But otherwise yea, there are licensing considerations with the tune you want to think about if you plan to use that same firm for instance, that is the take away here. On top of that , it would be a dick move to sell a vehicle for instance with a 93 tune and the new owner doesn't know or care about it and grenades their motor.

I would definitely go back to stock but what I was wondering was if anyone has traded in their ST and what the dealer said about it being tuned. Did they get a good trade in value or did the dealer give them the bare minimum for a trade in. I have heard dealers are really particular on if a vehicle is tuned and being weary of trade in.

I don't think people who trade their vehicles in tuned even tell the dealer they are tuned for fear the dealer will not want the car. You certainly will not get more for it. Of course, after returning to stock, the only saleable item is a used tuning device.

Depends. On my 2019 Mustang, it went back to stock, but I left the box inside the trunk with some other goodies. My 2021 had a FP larger throttle body and intake, so all of the FP stuff went with it and the tune was installed. It wouldnt run on a stock tune. Edge ST went back to stock, with the Livernois box in case the new owner wanted to play.
