I have a 2020 Explorer ST.
Lately my tire pressure sensor keeps going out and then they come back. I had the front passenger replaced and now the other three went out and came back now the rear passenger side went out. The dealer told me that is too early for them to go bad, but the one replaced is ok. Some tell me that it's a frequency issue, What can be the problem could it be the battery in the TPMS? I'm willing to buy them and just replace them but I have an extended warranty that should cove it with my $100.00 deductible. Please advise. THANK YOU ALL...

They do intermittently connect before they die completely. That would be my guess if just one of them flakes out at a time. Even if new, maybe it's been sitting on a shelf a while. One of them just died on my 2020 ST as well and I'm thinking the other 3 are not far behind.

That is the same way I feel. They replaced one and that one is fine, now the other three are acting up.

I have a 2020 and the rear passenger just went out... I'm debating just waiting for the others considering the recent posts on this. Anyone have any updates here?

If one is going, chances are the rest will go soon. I'd just have them all done in one shot.

That's exactly what happened to me. Bought some generic ones off Amazon.

Buying off eBay or Amazon is a gamble. I bought a set of eBay and they were all dead! I ended up getting the metal ones from tpmsdirect.com. They worked perfect.

It’s not a Sync issue. The batteries are dying. They only last around 5 years.

you finally got things in order then?
Yes, finally! First two sets were no good. That’s why I say it’s a gamble to get them from eBay or Amazon. You might get some that work ok but, like me, you might not.

Has anybody been to the dealership or a tire place to get these replaced? I'm seeing high prices when looking online to have these done.

I live in a complex so I can't dismantle my tires in the parking lot

Last weekend one of the sensors came up with a fault and stopped sensing on my 2020. It is 6 years old. Glad to hear that it is likely the battery dead in the sensor and not some other issue. Surprised they only last around 5 years. My 2019 Fusion sensors are still working fine, though I don't put a lot of miles on it. I wonder if it is more of a factor of mileage rather than years on how long they last??? My sister has a 2011 Fusion and the sensors were still working after 10 years and over 100,000 miles. Told her she should get the sensors replaced last time she got new tires as they probably wouldn't last much longer. Of course now one of the new sensors has failed after only 3 years, and it was OEM Ford installed at a Ford dealer and is past the warranty.

As for cost, I see the list price is around $83 for the sensors. How much are you being quoted to replace the sensor? When my sister had hers replaced, Ford had a rebate if all four were replaced. Don't remember how much she ended up paying, but they also were replacing the tires at the same time. Actually, they forgot to install the sensors and had to dismount the tires again to install the sensors. I am going to try and replace the one sensor myself. I have a manual bead breaker and from what I have seen on the internet, you just need to break the bead on the sensor side and can get it replaced that way. Wheel is already scratched up so figure I can't make it much worse. Just don't go the cheap route when you have it done if your wheels are in nice shape. I went to Sam's Club to have my tires replaced and they scratched up the inside of the wheels. Thankfully they did not damage the pristine exterior. Still mad about it.
