good morning all, I’ve been doing some research on here and would like to upgrade my system. I love Unbroken’s build, and his willingness to share throughout the process. I don’t want to go that far. I’ve upgraded the speakers to focal separates after following his posts, honestly had never heard of Focal prior to that, and sound deadened the doors, rear hatch and rear storage area. I am interested in a DSP. and possibly upgrading the sub. Looking at the NavTV Zen, again based on comments on here from UnBroken and others, but also just came across a thread that mentions something called a MoBridge A2B. Anyone have any experience with this? UnBroken? I don’t need to get loud just want to clean up the “muddiness” in the midrange area, and have a cleaner sound. We do a lot of audio books on road trips, I have an 8 yr old, and we listen to our music in the mid to lower levels. I appreciate y’all reading this and any opinions you can provide.

For integration, you can also use the PAC AmpPro AP4-FD31 instead of the Zen or Mobridge if budget is a factor.

MoBridge (one model has a DSP built in) and ZEN are pricey units, but IMHO the best sound possible is with the ZEN. It provides the cleanest signal, especially through Toslink. PAC works just fine for budget systems and is the most affordable. They will all require new amplifiers since the B&O amp is completely removed. Adding a DSP is possible and highly recommended. Caution: It can get very expensive quickly.
For a speaker only upgrade, Infinity Reference is almost universally recommended. Replacing just the front door 6x9's, mid and tweeter's with Infinity Reference component speakers (sound deaden the doors) is an affordable way to drastically improve the ST. It won't be SQ competition quality, will have a slightly bright but clear midrange (turn the mid tone down), but more like what Ford should have done. Nice and clean from the factory amp without the mud it had stock. Then a subwoofer upgrade would be all thats left if you need deeper bass.
I have a 25 ST, and swapped to the Infinity's months ago to improve over stock while waiting for ZEN to support the 25's (they finally do and it's on the way!). I used the Kappa MX-20 for the mids, and also removed the center speaker completely. Con: Slightly lower sound stage, but much better width and stereo separation. It sounded almost mono with the center, which also added to the muddiness.
