Security lug nuts - Advice Needed

Hey folks,

I was looking to add some protection to my wheels using security lug nuts from Gorilla 96643BDX that I found others mention in this forum in multiple threads.
However, the ones I purchased from Amazon had what looks like rust inside all 20 of them. So, I requested a replacement, but it had the same issue.
I used a q-tip to inspect further, then some of that came out on the cotton tip, but not much at all, so there was no reason for me to believe that this was grease.
Has anyone experienced anything like this at all, or is this a normal thing? Should this affect installation, longevity, or safety, etc.?

Fyi - I tried to look for alternatives and found Ford Performance selling these https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-1A043-A, but people reviewing this item on ford.com are saying that they're sticking out further than the OEM lug nuts, which doesn't seem like something I want to deal with, at least until I have explored the Gorilla solution first, if any at all.

Would appreciate any helpful insight!
Thanks

Every one I’ve seen has had some corrosion in there. I just spray a small amount of lube (like white lithium grease) into the bottom before installing. Don’t lube the threads though (as best you can).

I have different gorilla lugs on one of my Mustangs. Car never sees rain, but I washed it once and those suckers started to rust. Had to swap them out.

Just buy some Advanced Wheel Locks, a bit pricey but worth every penny.

Most thieves will always find a way to steal something, but make them struggle for it, and not everyone will be successful

There should be no coatings on the lug studs or nuts…so some light rust before install is perfectly fine.
