roof storage

what do you think is the best/better option for roof storage? Heading on a trip (I Hope) and was thinking we will need it. Thanks in advance.

I have a roof box and have the Ford crossbars. Just be aware that the recommended rooftop weight limit is rather low... I think 50lb with sunroof?
