Like the subject says, we need a little more cargo room in our 21, and was wondering if you can remove the 2nd row seats without pissing off the computers? We would still have the 3rd row seats if for some reason we needed them.

I have not really checked if there are airbags in those seats or not.

Any ideas?

Edit: I see there is already a thread on this, please disregard. Mods can delete if wanted

A lot of people remove their 2nd and 3rd row for weight reduction, haven’t heard it cause any problems for them.

I found the thread about this, apparently you can't delete your own threads here.

That thread was actually pretty useful.

I pulled the middle seat out of my bench for more space.

Issue is with the seat belt buckles. When you disconnect them, it causes errors with the seat belt monitoring system so you'll get warnings on the dash. If temporary, don't worry about it. If this is a long term thing, you'll need to disconnect the buckles from the seats and plug them in to the harness.

The buckles are hall effect sensors. Do not jump them with a jumper wire or ECU damage may occur.

Here’s a pic.

Using an old floormat as a temporary cover to the open spot left in the carpet. This was supposed to be temporary for a summer road trip with the family, but the kids ended up liking this a lot so it's been a few months now. If i keep it like this i'll prob go seek out a peice of carpet I can cut to shape to cover/fit the area better.

But without the armrests that would be on the typical captains chairs, there is more pass-thru space.

I removed both of the 2nd row seats. Airbag light is on, seatbelt fault as well.

I went to go plug the seatbelts back in, but the plug end is in the seat harness thats.... in the seat. Saw another said to take all that out, so I got started, but quit when i got to the wire that goes all the way up the seatback. Airbag?

Currently just living with the seatbelt fault, i'll have to decide what to do.. I'm not normally dissuaded by cutting wires, but this one gave me pause, lol.

I removed the seatbelt from my middle seat. Had to snake the wire out of it but it was the only way. You cannot jump the harness connector. Won’t work and may damage ECU.

not aware of there being airbags in the 2nd row. My guess is the wiring you are seeing for the two outer seats is for the power fold function. Bench seats don’t have this but the captains chairs do.

That has to be it! I just put my seats into storage, way up and way way way back on the shelves too, yay.
