Not remembering bluetooth devices suddenly

Hey everyone, I have a 2020. Recently it started doing this thing where it will not remember/connect to paired bluetooth devices (i.e. my iPhone).

Sync has been updated to the most recent version. This just started happening within the last month -- before that, it was working fine.

This is what's happening:
  1. I'd get in the Explorer, start it
  2. Says no phone is connected
  3. Pair my phone, listen to music or whatever
  4. Get where I'm going, park
  5. Come back to the Explorer, start it up, and we are back to step #1 -- it acts like no phone is connected and I have to do the Forget Device/Pair process all over again.
Has this been happening to anyone else? I had the Explorer in to the dealership for this issue, they just updated Sync to the latest version. It's still not working.

For what it's worth, my phone bluetooth works with other devices, so I don't think it's the bluetooth on my phone. I'm running the latest version of iOS.

Any ideas?

If you personally verified the Sync version as being the latest (23188), maybe do a master reset and start from scratch.

Bro i have the same issue. But it got a bit better. Let me explain. So also about a month ago I was leaving work and tried calling my wife as I always do everyday but didn't hear her through the explorer speakers. It was weird because i was plugged in with Android Auto and the music and maps running as usual.
The next day it did the same leaving work with the phone call not coming out through the speakers. So on the third day I decided to pay attention to my phone while i started up the ST and sure enough there was an error message saying "cannot connect to bluetooth". Android Auto still let me play youtube music and use google maps as normal. So everyday I would have to go into bluetooth setting and "Forget Device" and once plugged it it would sync and calls would run fine through the speakers.
A week later dropped her off at the dealer for an appointment (trans noises at certain speeds) and had them perform the 3 open recalls it had. One of them being the software update "Campaign 25S72/25V442" to the newest version (I was never able to successfully do it myself using a USB). I didn't mention anything to the dealer about it thinking that the software update would get rid of the bug.
It's currently on version 3.4.23188 and the problem had only shown up twice in the 2 weeks I've had it back.
It's kind of odd that the issue just appeared out of nowhere with prior to updates on the ST and my android.
I'll be running my work iphone for the next 2 weeks to se if it does it with that as well.

Have you completely unpaired and ‘forgotten’ the device then set it back up from scratch? If it’s still not working I would just get the $9 Bluetooth CarPlay dongle and not keep chasing that gremlin

https://a.co/d/dwfOGJD I tell everyone about this thing it’s as useful as it is cheap

I have not verified the actual version, I was just told by the dealership that it was done. I will confirm

It' weird, I had no problems at all for the longest time, and just now recently it won't connect at all. It consistently refuses to :( I may have to just move to a wireless carplay adapter or something. :-/

I have, but maybe it's time to move to something else.

I think it's okay? I'm not having any memory issues with anything else -- the seat positions return to where they are supposed to, as a for example.

Having said that, I do think it's the original battery -- could that really effect bluetooth memory?

If it's really a 5-year-old battery, moving towards 6, that's a good place to start. A known good power supply is always a solid beginning. There is plenty written on this forum about mystery gremlins that end up being a bad battery that tested good everywhere they were tested.

I can't guarantee that's the problem, but it would be nice to know and a relatively inexpensive way to know that it isn't. Seems like everyone has their own favorite battery and if you've had something that works for you, by all means stick with it, but Costco or Walmart will sell you a battery for something around $175. Walmart even puts a 4-year warranty on theirs, many batteries carry a 3-year warranty. Exploders are a little more involved when installing a new battery than most American vehicles that have a battery under the hood, but nothing to scare you away.

Should you choose to entertain this route, do a BCM reset too. https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...a&div=f&vFilteringEnabled=False&buildtype=web
