We bought a new 2025 ST in April .It had a noise that sounded kinda of like a loose exhaust clamp .I just took it and though it might just go away it was a tick sound .It never went away but wasn’t a big deal .We put 8400 miles on it including a 2800 mile trip to the ST Experience in NC .Many people drove their vehicles to the event and Ford had around 25 Explorers for people to drive .When we go back I took it to the dealer for a recall and asked them to check what the noise was .I came by a few days later to get a different loaner and talked to the mechanic working on my vehicle .I asked if he fixed the noise. He said well , Ford was going to put a knew engine in it as the noise was caused by a valve hitting the number three piston .The vehicle made the noise since day one and did 8400 miles including a 2800 mile trip with no problem performance wise.I looked at the scope pictures of the piston and yep Itvwas obvious a valve hitting the piston .Crazy .So I know have a new engine ! Anyone else have a similar experience?

Wow, what a pain. I hope the R&R on the engine goes well and is quick. I can't even think what they could to to make it any better. What could they do? Man, so sorry to hear, hate it for you.

I always look at engines and transmissions the same way I look at electronics. Either gonna go early, or do you right for a long time.

Just to clarify, it was a "new" motor? I've wondered how they handle this between a new engine and a used/rebuilt engine with regard to warranty.
