That is so weird... I connected thew wires exactly how it listed in this thread. I don't get how mine turns of in reverse but yours doesn't...

Thanks the info! The harness clip was a bitch to pull apart with big hands. I made the taps leaning my head oddly against the windshield guestimating.

The Amazon kit came with an extended tap piece, which in hindsight I realized I didn’t need. Whatever, it’s on and I can be vigilant.

Do you know how much power is going into the module up there? Could I tap in power for a dash cam too?

I'm running the Escort M1 dash cam with my Redline 360, with no issues so far. Other than them turning off when in reverse, and also it only is on when the car is on. I could probably find a way to get the dash cam to run, but I don't often park in public spaces, so I don't worry about it to much...

I copied this thread as well, and mine does not turn off in reverse.

I followed the instructions on the link below to wire up my Cobra Road Scout (just in case anyone else wants another resource).

https://www.explorerforum.com/forum...hard-wiring-radar-detector-camera-etc.486815/

The reason it may be turning off in reverse is that I think the auto tint turns off when backing up, so I guess you may have wired it up into that signal loop?

I looked at that thread again, and I think I used the wrong wire. But, not sure I care to fix it since I'll never need the detector in reverse, it isn't a big deal for me. But, I'll probably buy a longer wire, since mine just BARELY fit, and it under some tension...

Wow, this doesn't look anything at all like my 2021 mirror. I just have a single plug and a green circuit board. I got it apart and not sure I'm going to be able to get it back together. Will post pics and an update

I thought we were taking the mirror apart... It's above the mirror... Got it... way easier

Got mine installed yesterday. My mirror tap has been in 3 different vehicles now and the wire had broken where it went into the 2a fuse... So I had to do some wire repair of the mirror tap, but all is good now.

That’s my post in the other forum. Glad it’s still plugging along and helping out.

Anyone do this for a dash cam? I’m assuming it’ll work. It’s what I did for my 17 explorer.
My main concern is pulling that black cover piece off. I swear I’ll break something. Any tips on removing it?

Scroll up, some used it for both at the same time. The cover pops right off.

Ok thanks. Anywhere particularly I should pull from? It’s a pretty big piece. And guessing it just pops back on pretty easily?

I believe I just pulled hard on the right side first and it popped off, pops back on easily

I'm just wondering the colored wires you're connecting the mirror tap to?

Red to white and black to black for the pins is what the pic looks like. Just ordered mine so I will find out once it gets here.

For those of you that are having an issue with it turning off in reverse. You’re not plugged into the right wire, I too was having this issue ( just did the install today) and after going back and looking at the original pictures posted to this thread. It looks like the black wire is next to the red wire it’s not, there is a GRAY wire in between them. I confirmed mine was plugged into the gray and would turn off in reverse. I moved it over one port into the actual black one and have had no issues. I don’t think it’s good for the radar to just loose power abruptly when going into reverse. I could be wrong, but it was driving me nuts so I had to check it again.
