Are Gorilla spline drive lug nuts any good? I have the McGard black lug nuts now but have to oportunity to grab the Gorilla's for free. I had to bail out a buddy once when he had a flat tire and his spline drive socket split on him. I don't want to get in the same situation.

I cannot believe there are so many choices for lug nuts... I jumped onto the McGard website to make a purchase but have a couple questions. It looks like there are 2 options for shape and also for length. Based on comparing my stock ST lug nuts, I believe I want the bulge cone seat style but am not sure on the length. Do I want the 1.635 or 1.945 length lug nuts?

Any help would be appreciated!

Are these going on the stock wheels? If yes then the 1.635 will sit flush like the factory nuts, whereas the 1.945 will poke out some beyond the wheel. And yes the bulge style is what you want.

Thank you for the quick info! Yes I am running the stock wheels for the time being, 1.635 bulge it is.

I am not sure what happened, but I believe Amazon just messed up with the description. I was originally searching for these lug nuts by size instead of just the McGard PN. I purchased 5 sets of McGard Part Number 64074 lug nuts for only $29.99/ea AND they are being delivered tomorrow. I figure if they arrive incorrect, I'll just return but this seems too good to be true. I will followup here once I verify. If these are legit, its a great deal for anyone wanting to upgrade to black.

That's exactly what I did. Typical Amazon, bait and switch on delivery.... They are arriving Thursday not tomorrow.

UPDATE, Amazon actually came through and delivered all 5 sets within 2 days. For reference, I took a couple pics of the stock nuts vs the McGard's in case someone else had questions. I think they look really good.

First, Ford with their two-piece lug nuts must be saving money. I had these on a 2011 Expedition and had to replace them due to swelling. This happened at a shop when they heated up due to use of air-tools (impact wrench).

when I purchased a 2017 Mustang, the lug nuts were the first to go. I used Gorilla locking lugs (splines) with good results.

Second, save yourself hassle and buy two added keys. I have one key in the vehicle, one in the garage, and one in my workshop.

I bought Gorilla for my ST. They look nice and so far so good. These are the spline locking lugs.

From experience, the OEM lug nuts are a problem waiting to head it’s ugly rear.
