Hello ST owners! I've had my 2025 ST for a couple of weeks and I have two questions about the infotainment system:

1. When I started the vehicle, the infotainment screen did not load. I had to hold down the power button and the seek button on the steering wheel for 10 seconds for a reset. Has that happened to anyone? What may have caused that?

2. I have a USB flash drive with music. I like my concerts, but the infotainment system only plays music in alphabetic order. I've formatted the flash drive to FAT32, tried to create .m3u playlists (works on PC, not in the ST .

Are there any recommendations with my above situation and the flash drive?

Thank you!

I've found the infotainment system difficult to navigate simply because there are far, far too many options, choices, and features. At some point our world needs to realize not all people live and die by cell phones and somebody else's fancy tech ideas that will change to someone else's fancy tech ideas with the next version.

Now that I've got that rant out of my system, LOL.. when I put my usb music on, there is a menu to play the way you want. It's just a matter of finding it. I think you can also do it via voice commands.

I found this video helpful and found out a few things I never would have known otherwise:

I believe I figured out the USB flash drive and how songs do not play in order. The infotainment system reads the title of the song, not the file name. So, if you change the title of the song to begin with 01, 02, 03, ...you will be good-to-go:

I used Mp3tag:
  • Open Mp3tag.
  • Select all your files (Ctrl + A).
  • Press Shift + Alt + 6 to open Actions (Quick).
  • Choose Action type: Format value.
  • Set:
    • Field: TITLE
    • Format string: %_filename%
  • Click OK.

Yes, I think that's the only way to do it. Mine last two Explorers always played in alphabetical order by song title also.

When you at the home screen and the song is playing, click the song title, then the whole screen is the player, then click the first option which looks like 2 arrows crossing each other. That shuffle so now it will shuffle your music and not play in alphabetic order.

as far as play list, the only why i found is make different folders and name the folder and put that type songs in the folder. Then when your searching go to the folder you want to play, click it open, then just click the first song and it will play all the songs in that folder only. Now it will play those in alphabetic order but just do the same as the first responce i wrote.

Thank you. I have another question. I use SiriusXM from Android Auto. I have a library in SiriusXM. In the Infotainment system, when I scroll my library, the app constantly refreshes my library and auto scrolls back to the top.

Anyone else experiencing this?

2026 Ford Explorer ST

It's been a LONGGGG time since I posted on here. As in several years! Traded my 2022 Carbonized gray Ford Explorer ST this last weekend.....for....another......2026 Carbonized gray Ford Explorer ST. Yep, liked the car SOOOO much, I just bought the same thing.....or as close as I could get to it...so my Explorer ST went back to ZERO miles!

As no doubt just about everyone knows...there were a few minor changes....
1. Foot operated lift for tailgate is no longer available (won't miss that, I couldn't get it to work half the time)
2. Moonroof no longer opens ....it's stationary and just for viewing (I'm ok with that too....I opened mine exactly TWO times in 4 years! Won't miss it opening....but glad the shade still opens....I like that)
3. Got RWD instead of 4WD this time. Won't miss that, NEVER once used the 4WD feature on the old one...
4. Wheels....I liked my black ones better on the 22' than I like the body colored ones on the 26'. Maybe it will grow on me.........
5. Like the bigger grill up front....and the added LED lights in the back....etc.
6. And probably a few other things have changed that escape me at the moment........

And then of course (getting on topic with THIS particular thread), they've changed quite a bit on the infotainment system. SOME of the changes....I like. Some of them, I don't. The "hey google" as the main voice activation method (no more Sync), does kind of bother me. At first, I thought that was cool. And I do like having Google maps for Navigation and having apps stored right on the car (like Waze, Weather radar, etc.). But what I really DO NOT like....and I've seen it mentioned on here and other sites....is like this thread sort of talked about, issues with the voice activation using "hey google"....especially concerning USB media.

From my research I saw this - "... early reports and user discussions indicate potential issues playing music from a USB drive via voice activation in 2025-2026 Ford Explorers equipped with the Ford Digital Experience/Google built-in system. Users have reported that voice commands often fail to recognize or select music from USB drives, sometimes defaulting to apps like Spotify or SiriusXM instead."

That's exactly what I'm seeing. It can't find or play songs or artists on the USB drive using voice commands (where as Sync would do that on my 22 Explorer). And instead, it wants to randomly go to Amazon Music (that I loaded on the car system) or Pandora or Spotify....etc. And of course....I learned from other research and watching some more videos....indeed, there is no more sync for voice activation. Just quick press for Google or long press for the Android Auto system (or Apple if you are so inclined)....ie Gemini. Or...you can of course say "Hey Google". I even tried reformatting the USB with different formats (it's supposed to want FAT32, but I tried two others just in case) and I made sure all the metadata for the mp3 files is there. Still no joy. Kind of a bummer...as I have a USB drive with about 300 songs from my favorite Playlists when I used to DJ at motorcycle rallies. So I much prefer listening to a USB drive....and I like to say something like "play Phil Collins"....and then get to listen to a bunch of Phil Collins songs right in a row....like listening to an album. YES, you can of course MANUALLY (no voice command) forward thru your songs. Or MANUALLY go into the menu system....and pick a folder/album of songs by an artist...and play those. But NOT hands free with voice commands, like you could with Sync in my 22 Explorer. I'm going to REALLY miss that! Digging thru 300 songs manually...instead of by voice....is both a bit dangerous (while driving) and definitely annoying! Instead of fumbling around menus and taking my eyes off the road....I loved in Sync just saying "play In the Air Tonight"....and it would....hands free. Can't do that currently on a USB with "hey Google". I of course did do it on Amazon Music...and I'm sure you can do it on Spotify and other sources. But again, the issue seems to be JUST USB voice commands that are "broke".

The "Hey Google" seems to work for everything else I've checked on so far....like navigation....weather/temp.....what time is it....making calls....etc. I of course have not checked EVERY other possible scenario (only had the car so far 5 days!)....and sometimes I can't get it to tune to an FM freq or Sirius channel....unless I'm first using that application/mode. Ie, it seems if I'm listening to FM...and say "Hey Google, tune to Sirius Y2K" or something like that, it doesn't work....UNTIL....I'm already in the Sirius app.

Anyway, just sharing information I've seen as a longtime Explorer ST owner (got my 22 in May of 22). REALLY hope they fix this USB voice command "glitch" in some future date...maybe a firmware upgrade to the system????

Minor/trivial add-on stuff.

It didn't come with the Entry Keypad.....and despite an article from Ford Authority saying on the 2026 models, the Dealer couldn't install it...it HAD to come from the factory, mine was added by the dealer (for about 455 bucks...labor and part) yesterday. That's the main addition....since it was lacking from the factory.
I've got some little "'trinkets" I added....ST seat belt covers....ST headrest covers....ST center console lid cover....ST license plate frame....etc.
ST center hubcaps for the wheels
You know, cosmetic minor "garbage/stuff" like that
And some splash guards for all 4 wheels

In other words, NOTHING to amount to a "hill of beans". I love it just the way it is.

I forgot to mention, mine only came with 90 days of Bluecruise. Maybe that's the normal amount? Anyway, after the trial....unless it grows on me....I'll not renew it for a fee....

The "Digital Experience"....other than the USB issue mentioned above....may grow on me...and I MIGHT renew that after the one year trial.

I saw a video claiming to be the 2027 Explorer design. Not really sure if it was AI generated BS ....or the real deal? If it was the real deal, glad I got my 2026. IF that 2027 posted out there now....is for real....it's not "my cup of tea"...............

Redvalk,

Bling is nice to have and sets a vehicle apart from another.

Bluecruise was a 90-day trial and Ford sent me reminders about expiry. I didn't use it but one of my pals (F-150) likes it and says it does a decent job on the interstate. Some here have mentioned that Bluecruise updates are "not expected" but you never know what a car company will do until they do it. Subscriptions are becoming a thing with new vehicles and I dread to think about what features that are common now will be maintained only by an annual fee.

The search is on for pics (real or otherwise) of the 2027 ST, lol. The current design is very nice and Ford did a great job making it look athletic without a lot of stuck-on or gimmicky stuff. And the engine is pretty potent as delivered with plenty of capacity with not a lot of modifications.

Enjoy the new ride.

No idea if it's legit. Suspicious....no one in the car while it's supposedly driving. You can see a reflection in the car of a person filming...but i suppose that too could be AI generated....

Redvalk,

Thanks for the link. It looks more truck-like and F-150-like with F O R D across the grille. I do like the slight flare around the wheel opening with a smaller width of plastic trim. The thin tailight band and the lower tailights(?) are not very attractive, imo, and the bottom of the rear bumper looks busy. Maybe the ST will have a higher standard of styling than the model in the video. Truth be told, I am glad we got our 2026 ST.

Thank you, again, for the link.
