Hey guys, new member to the boards here. I've done some searching and I found the rear LSD swap thread here/read the whole thing:
https://www.explorerst.org/threads/explorer-st-timberline-part-swap.2948/page-5
but I can't seem to find any info on anyone doing an LSD in the front diff. I'm wondering if that is a thing or if no one does that. I would imagine buying a second timberline LSD unit and swapping the guts into the front diff would be the path of least resistance to getting a mechanical LSD in the front diff?
Would changing gear ratios be as simple as swapping a new center section and ring/pinion gears on both diffs and then updating the ratio in the ECU? Not sure if anyone has done that yet?
Also, related but the eLSD is just basically traction control using the brakes and maybe fuel cut to the motor to attempt to get different wheels to grab vs just having an actual mechanical system to actually distribute the force to both axles right? I haven't read up on the eLSD. I should probably research that more.
