Has anyone done an aftermarket 21” wheel? Thinking of going from the 22x10.5 to a 21x10.5 and a 305/35 down to a 295/40. I like the profile comparison with the new curved spoke wheel and found a set in that size online to see what they actually look like. I know a lot of people run that tire size on the stock wheels but has anyone seen a wider, aftermarket 21? IMG_5726.png IMG_5722.jpeg

Well the Ford Performance runs 315/30r21 wheels. Really the only 21" set I have seen on an Explorer, except for @whooshmotorsports which had the same setup as the FP car. I think once I am going to go the 21" route soon, looking at some KRNC Forged 21x10.5 and pair it with a 315/35r21.

I have no desire to run a 315 again. They tramline like crazy and a 315/35/21 is too short IMO.
I forgot about their little show car though.

It looks like superforged has some 21x10.5 options.

That FP Explorer is running a 315/30r21, super short tire.

That can't be a 21" wheel, Nitto doesn't make the NT420V tire in any 21" sizes.
They say it’s a 21x10.5 Vossen. Maybe he typed it wrong. I’ll double check.

They are a 22" according to the comments on their Instagram post. I've also sent a quote request for my 2025 in 21x10.5 of the HF5s. Already have a decent list of goodies bought and waiting for shipment.

Unbroken did you ever switch to 21x10.5? If so did you keep the same +30 offset?

I apologize for reviving such an old thread but I'm new to the ST world and it seems like you went in the same direction I'm thinking of going and I wanted to ask you can see any problems with what I'm thinking. Here is what I had in mind.

Apex Ex VS-5RX Wheel 21X10X30
Tire 295/40/21
Steeda Lowering Springs

Maybe spacers, if I get around to upgrading the brakes.

From what I can glean form the interwebs this sems like it would work, but based on your experience do you see any issues with this setup. I know the Apex's are way too much money but I managed to get some upsprung weight off my SHO and it made a world of difference.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

No issues at all with that set up. If they can do it in a 10.5 +30 it would be dead flush where the 10 +30 will be inset just a hair. Don’t expect to feel a lighter wheel on this car like you would a lighter car…it’s still a 5000lb pig. I’ve had light, forged wheels on this car since I first got it…made no difference in handling or ET. Many others have the same experience.
And I don’t find Apex high at all. I’m about to order a set for a Golf R I haven’t even bought yet just to have them ready to go. They’re great wheels.

Not that big a difference the SHO comes in at 4,327, the ST comes in at 4,766 so a little over 400 pounds, there both big girls always did like big girls LOL. I guess the difference is I did drive the SHO for a really long time with those big heavy stock wheels.so I noticed the shed weight - Your right compared to other light weight rims there not bad but price is always relative to what you usually pay for things.

Such as - A really long time ago 90's I wrecked my truck so I had to rent a car, they gave me new Explorer to drive and I thought to myself, "This is a nice truck but I could never afford one of these". I could have bought four of them for what this one cost me.

Thank you so much for the confirmation I really appreciate it. I like subtle changes, I like all the things from the factory to work as designed, so I wanted something that was not going to require a bunch of modifications.

I’m a forged wheel junkie…all of my vehicles get them along with BBK’s. By the math I’ve dropped over 100lbs of unsprung weight on this car. Didn’t change the 60’ or 0-60 times at all and never could tell a difference in handling either.
