After refusing to read incoming text messages from my Pixel 9 Pro while the vehicle was moving for over a year, about two months ago the Google Assistant mysteriously decided to start talking. That was a nice surprise and I have no idea why it began working. Today, a text came in and Google Assistant offered a new feature to use AI to "summarize" my incoming SMS messages. Against my better judgement I selected to turn on this feature. A while later I got an incoming text and the AI interpretation was "Will do" and a heart emoji. When I got to read the actual text it was several sentences long and conveyed quite a bit more information than "will do" would cover. After a little digging in the menus I think I figured out how to turn the AI off. FYI for others if they receive this prompt so they are aware what they are signing up for.

Chairborne Ranger,

Firstly, thanks for your service. And I dig your screen name - chortle every time i see it.

Secondly, thanks for the PSA about enabling (or not enabling) AI.

I guess AI is good for some things but it has a long way to go before we get to the level of the USS Enterprise's computer (ca. 1967). Until such time, AI "Ain't Impressive" for many things quite yet.
