If you over fill them the fluid gets airated by the parts spinning in there. Which in turn causes an overheat and causes the Trans to puke out the overflow on longer rides. There have been several report this situation over on the ranger forum. So if you attempt this I would only add enough to raise the level one notch and see what happens. Good luck.

Mine is doing exactly what you are describing going from second to third around 1/3 throttle. Dealer had it for 5 days and they said that they ran it while plugged in and it showed them that the transmission was running within "normal parameters". Wow.... I've had my ST for 3 years when it was at 17K miles. It's now at 41K miles and this just started about a month or so ago.
Finally got mine into the dealer yesterday for the SYNC recall and told them I was having harsh shifts, particularly in Sport mode. Tech took it out and decided he felt something weird too. They gave me a loaner today and said maybe more info on it by end of the week.
