    Dueling STs

I can probably work up a list one weekend and post it. What caught me off guard was some of the aesthetic changes made in just 2 years without an "official" refresh.

    Dueling STs

Want to formally introduce myself. I purchased my wife a 2022 ST for mother's day this year, Carbonized Grey. My company vehicle is a 2020. It will be coming off vehicle programs for me once my 22 F150 is built and delivered (also a company vehicle). We were sad to see the explorer be...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

There seems to be a misconception regarding the requirements to meet safety standards as regulated by the NHTSA and the failure of the differential/subframe bolt. The NHTSA only concern is about what can happen AFTER the occurrence of a differential bolt failure. The NHTSA's concern with Ford...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Dealers are capable of completing the Recall. Warranty submission is required for the VIN to show no open actions:

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Some points to consider: - Some vehicle may have a software update "available." This only identifies that Ford has finalized the release version of the software. This does not mean the dealership has the ability to install the software. FDRS has an update scheduled for May 11. If the dealer is...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

For those of you riled up regarding all the misinformation coming from the FCSD Zone Manager or the dealership's sales department, please disregard. The person of importance that would have the information available for this concern would be the Field Service Engineer. This is a service...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

As your dealer appears to be attempting a "manual" recall due to the circumstances from the sale, it's safe to bet it will likely have the recall performed on the initial day of release. It is typical dealership process to apply recalls such as this on unsold (and held) units prior to recalling...

    Rear end damage

I cannot speak to the reason, but a design change was made and the vehicles are now equipped with only one location for bushing installation in the subframe. Ford did not redesign the differential housing used on these vehicles. 2 diff holes + 1 subframe hole is normal operating characteristic.

    Rear end damage

What is the part number/engineering number of that diff? It will not be covered under the SSM that has been released for this concern. ... Just added clarification to my previous statement.

    Rear end damage

Ford uses the same differential cover (with 2 subframe bolt hole locations) across several models of the explorer. This is performed to reduce parts complexity for the vehicle (insert obvious reasons). The difference on previous models was that some models used both mounting locations on some...

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

Look for an update on the recall the first week of June.

Safety Recall 22S27 Rear Axle Bolt Fractures

This is incorrect. There is a SSM regarding repair direction should this fault occur. Under this SSM, the dealer is to replace the differential, bolt, and subframe. The dealer must order the VIN specific subframe to claim support for this repair. All of the vehicles built with the 1 rear bolt...

    Rear end damage

Those of you claiming to have automatic EPB engagement, this is a feature with all current generation explorers. This feature only engages when the vehicle determines it is parked on an incline. The EPB will automatically disengage after the vehicle determines the power train/drive train has...
