Metallic rattle from rear passenger's wheel well.

That all sounds great! The adhesive is a big plus and the thinner material keeps the ST away from a monster truck stance (just a slight exaggeration). And kudos to you for going through rear spring install AGAIN to apply the H&R solution. On to the next mod on your list.

    Reset Infotainment System 2025

Fuzzy761210, Thanks for the advice. The ST is connected to our home wi-fi and I have not signed up for the Ford connected services (yet). Map downloading will be attempted tomorrow, will try to set a destination, then see what happens when I leave the home wi-fi area, lol. AA was working...

Metallic rattle from rear passenger's wheel well.

SugarMouth, That's pretty good customer service. They may be working on some longer term solution but recognize you don't want the annoying metallic creak-fest going on. Presumably the isolators are a better size than the ones you found. The question is, will it be worth your while to swap...

    Distance sensor replacement 2021 ST

cillik, Looks like the front bumper cover has to come off. The sensor is behind the rectangular indentation under the front license plate. Removing the bumper cover is not a huge job and it is well documented on YouTube (and HoustonSpeedFreaks, and there could be some links in "intercooler...

    Reset Infotainment System 2025

Doom Crew, I'm not too car screen savvy yet but it must be possible to configure the home screen with the apps you want. I will dig into this little puzzle and see what I can find/learn.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Diggin' those stripes on the Silver Spruce Metallic, BruceDaMoose - very nice. Sweet looking wheels, too, and a nice stance. You are a man of impeccable taste.

Salvage Explorer - new to ST

Those rebuilt turbos look pristine on the outside - a good sign that they take some good care in their work. I hope they do a post mortem on the unit sent in.

Metallic rattle from rear passenger's wheel well.

Good theory, pics are great support (no pun intended) to the text. You may want to share your idea with H&R because they may not know that the spring stops on the ST lower arms are not in the same spot. Not sure how prevalent asymmetrical perches are but i was surprised (from a Mustang...

Salvage Explorer - new to ST

71Mach1, Great info about the VeVoR/clone. Thank you. (y) Glad you had the heaters lined up for winter wrenching. 5 F is no joke to work in, especially handling metal parts and tools. Looking forward to the rebuilt turbo job pics (although maybe you've got enough to do to get the stuff...

Salvage Explorer - new to ST

Lol-ed at "...been abusing it a lot with new turbos". Turbo tester is just another talent you possess - the rebuilder should be improving the product based on what he find wrong with the turbo sent in for warranty work. I have been looking at QuickJacks for years and didn't take the plunge...

Salvage Explorer - new to ST

The '14: it'll look like new with a little soap and water. That turbo replacement offers you an opportunity. "For just a few more dollars, we (it's important to use the plural, I've found) could get a bigger turbo AND, if we buy two, Garrett gives a nice discount". What happened to...

Metallic rattle from rear passenger's wheel well.

SugarMouth, Thanks for the follow-up note. Very interesting! DId H&R explain why this happens? If it is rare, isn't a manufacturing issue? Sorry, but I don't recall seeing isolators on the rear springs because i was just focused on getting the springs installed (and getting my hide off...

Metallic rattle from rear passenger's wheel well.

Wow! Who'da thunk it? Excellent detective work, Sir! Is the spring seated in the perch (that is, at the lowest point in the lower arm)? Are those coils making contact with something, or, is the spring itself making the creaking/groaning metallic noise? I presume that there is a warranty...

    Transmission Shudder

Follow-up questions: Are you the original owner of the vehicle? Asking because the service manual says that solenoids are calibrated from the factory and replacements have to be set to the same settings or shifts will not be right. 2-wheel or all-wheel drive? AWD has a transfer case...

    Transmission Shudder

looqw, Good to hear that the fluid is fresh and the level is correct. Maybe the trans temperature (160 F) is due to a bad sensor. But fluid temperature seems like it should be alarmed (that is, a code would be set) if too cold or too hot. (I'll take a look for this in the service manual.)...

JXB DIff Insert x Steeda’s Diff Brace

UNBROKEN, Thanks for the info. Until I started using urethane bushings, I did not know about silicone grease and Super Lube was recommended by one of the vendors so that is what I have been using. Super Lube greased bushings do need regreasing regularly, as you said. I figured this was...

JXB DIff Insert x Steeda’s Diff Brace

bnrodn, "Super Lube" silicone lubricating grease works well for urethane bushings. Do not use a multi-purpose grease - this type of grease is not silicone based and will ruin polyurethane bushings. You can buy the silicone grease it on Amazon (and other places). Recommend that you buy a...

Welcome from another new guy. You are a man with a plan. And, a man with some decent mechanical skills. Should be an interesting build.

Metallic rattle from rear passenger's wheel well.

SugarMouth, If you have a borescope (or a friend with one), it may be small enough diameter to fit down the gap in the two channels on the wheel well. I like your zip-tie method but seeing is believing (usually) so a borescope might show an offending piece of metal. Have you used compressed...
