Running ZFG , GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOIS Tune in Mexico with bad quality fuel (91 octanes)

The intercooler is the big thing. Downpipes help as well. That's really ALL you need. You can do plugs too if you want

2025 Explorer ST - Basic mods on 93oct + Goosetuned....How much power does it make?!

Ahhh, I see what you're asking. These cars are torque based, they don't care much about boost pressure (with in limits). They target a torque value, and use boost and other methods to hit that value. For example the stock tune can run 16-17psi at sea level to make 430lb-ft of torque. Where at...

2025 Explorer ST - Basic mods on 93oct + Goosetuned....How much power does it make?!

I don't like to run as much boost through the stock downpipes (this will create torque) because with more boost comes more heat, and you can reach the knock threshold much quicker. It can always make more power, the idea here is to stay within the safe limits. This is where I mention safe and...

2025 Explorer ST - Basic mods on 93oct + Goosetuned....How much power does it make?!

I use HPTuners. SCT wont work, that's correct.

2025 Explorer ST - Basic mods on 93oct + Goosetuned....How much power does it make?!

Tuned a 2025 ST on the dyno today! I tune at least 5-7 of the new trucks a week, mostly road tuning. This one was on the dyno! Super basic mod list: 93e10 Fenfab Intake CVF Intercooler + piping Thermal Catback Stock these make 330-340whp. I will work on getting the stock baseline asap 456whp...

Running ZFG , GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOIS Tune in Mexico with bad quality fuel (91 octanes)

MX fuel doesn't have ethanol and isn't 'quality controlled' like US fuel. But some stations can be just as good, if not better. Some can be worse and tune like 87oct. Generally 91ACN fuel is better

Running ZFG , GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOIS Tune in Mexico with bad quality fuel (91 octanes)

For a 2025 HPTuners is the only thing available. I'd recommend the RTD4 device. Oh good, yeah an intercooler will help A LOT in your situation. You can throw it on at anytime, but it's ideal to have it on when we tune...

Running ZFG , GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOIS Tune in Mexico with bad quality fuel (91 octanes)

On MX fuel you're looking at a best of +30-40hp, safely...if you want the car to last. That's my focus. If you can run 92-93 you'll get better results. With me you can have 2 maps, 1 for MX fuel, and one for Boostane93.

Running ZFG , GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOIS Tune in Mexico with bad quality fuel (91 octanes)

Like TNT said, it needs to be a specific tune for your fuel there. 91ACN will probably get you close. I've tuned a TON (probably 500+) of cars and trucks from MX, the fuel is definitely bad. They used to cross the border and meet me in El Paso when I was tuning in person. I would do 5 a week at...

Running ZFG , GOOSTUNE OR LIVERNOIS Tune in Mexico with bad quality fuel (91 octanes)

Living in an area with horrible 91oct my whole life, and having the experience to tune that fuel over the past 15yrs gives us a massive advantage over most. Tuning on good 91, and 93+ feels like a cheat code. Sub-par fuel and the Ecoboosts don't go well together, and when people don't have the...

    What am I hearing?

So it was tuning after all and not a mechanical knock sensor issue. That's usually the case on ACN. ACN fuel is no joke. Takes a lot of experience to tune, safely. Hopefully what you were hearing (detonation) didn't hurt anything. Good job keeping your ears open to it! And always happy to...

    What am I hearing?

You are 100% correct, the system is a reactive system. I had 2 tuners tell me it was proactive....I couldn't believe it. There are proactive steps to the knock system, but in order for it to do it's job it needs to hear it. That's why it has knock sensors lol. If it didn't really knock then...

    What am I hearing?

VERY hard to tell what it is. Detonation can be hard to pic up on a mic over exhaust noise. However, if you can hear knock, it's eventually going to be catastrophic. You made a post about adaption a few days ago when you mentioned me, 'auto octane' type post. Most often don't understand how...
