    Reconsidering Explorer ST

You can't just "add that bolt", It requires a bushing and the subframe no longer has a place for the bushing. As far as 500hp, with just a ZFG tune on 93 these will easily put down 430 to the wheels which is equivalent to about 500 crank. No blowers, no HPFP, no trans swaps.

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

I explained in the post why I think it's unnecessary. On that MRT exhaust, it looks like they have tapped the crossover (H pipe) and installed a Helmholtz resonator to give it a particular sound. I am not an acoustics engineer, @UNBROKEN could most likely answer your question.

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

Thank you! I try my best, while hiding most of the math. I haven't read any posts by Mr. Duck, but I definitely don't have the patience to do 1.7 million different combinations!

    A fast Ford Explorer ST

    I stand corrected. 3" downpipes connecting to a 4".

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

I recently took a look at a an interesting internet article about a very fast ST. https://www.fordmuscle.com/features/car-features/kevin-krupskis-exceptionally-fast-10-second-explorer-st/ Being an engineer and relentlessly curious, I'm looking at some of the choices made on that owner's...

    A fast Ford Explorer ST

I have to say the fabrication work on that car is extremely impressive! I know that the owner, Kruppa used to post here, and I'm a fan, and I'm sure I'm going to be flamed for this opinion, but it looks like it's going more over-the-top Hot Wheels than just performance; meaning it's almost a...

    Predictions on gas prices

We're going to have to suck it up for the short term. In terms of national security, it's worth the sacrifice. History has shown us that when you're dependent on despots for something important you only have yourself to blame when they decide to withhold it in order to extort you.

More goodies: FenFabrication Cold air intake and IC Piping

Kruppa does sometimes lurk here. Last seen Sunday at 6:40pm. Considering he is now installing a 4" dual exhaust, perhaps he was reading my exhaust thread? ;)

    FND Whipple Intercooler

@Dale5403 Maybe you can move your post #15 to a new thread. I think many of us would like to discuss that build outside of just Whipple intercooler info. As for the OP, it's probably doubtful you'll find someone who has an intercooler just sitting around gathering dust and it's too bad your...

    Wide Body Kit interest?

Very nice, I'm impressed. How did you fab it up. Polyurethane foam?

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

You are completely welcome to do this! Fact is, on this forum only a minuscule number of people care about threads like this. I just occasionally cringe when I see posts that propagate the same old misinformation over and over.

In response to comments in this thread and others, I've updated my exhaust thread. See it here: https://www.explorerst.org/threads/for-those-thinking-about-a-performance-exhaust-system.2775/post-43705

For those thinking about a "performance" exhaust system

I've seen a few posts in the last week about exhaust sizing and the "lore" that bigger is better. I'll try to address why many people believe this, and why it's understandable, but incorrect. Much is based on the idea that the "less backpressure the better". While that statement is absolutely...

W Since you're new here, we're trying to be nice. Look at the link in my previous post. As far as elevation, air density is less, no doubt. But that doesn't have anything to do with flow through the exhaust which is a function of mass airflow which only decreases as air density decreases...

@UNBROKEN is exactly right. a SINGLE 3" exhaust will support 7-800 horsepower on a turbocharged vehicle. A dual 2.25" system is actually slightly larger in terms of area than a 3". If you're looking to change the sound of the exhaust, then do whatever to make it sound good. But to claim you...

I'm saying there isn't enough information to know and you need a lot more information based on your comments before you think about running an ethanol tune. Walk before you run...see a knowledgeable tuner once you get your intercooler and CAI installed (@ZFGracing) and follow their advice.

Taking a look at that pump from your link, you can't possibly know unless you know the actual flow in lbs/minute of the new pump/stock injector combo. If we calculate the ST engine at 6000 rpm at 100% VE at 3 bar or 29 PSIg (you are planning on running more mass airflow, right?), it comes out...

    Speeding Ticket Today

Last ticket I received was 15 years ago in Michigan on a two-lane road. I'm doing exactly the limit with cruise on. As I come over a hill, there's a kid skateboarding down the hill in the middle of road! I mean this is corn country and a skateboarder in front of me in the middle of nowhere is...
