    There's no indicator as far as I've seen. I just go by the way they look.

    You can do it with an aftermarket tune. I would hold off on pulling any fuse.

    That's exactly what mine is doing. I let it sit there for almost 30 minutes and nothing happens.

    Nope, the ignition has to be on for it to work including the 12-volt socket.
