First I've heard of anything like this.

Not possible, every time you turn the engine on/off it resets the drive mode.

From what I've read Sport mode tweaks include: sharper throttle response, weightier steering, and less restrictive stability control. But on the way to work this morning I shifted to Sports mode at 70mph and you can see the RPM jump with more engine noise. The only problem I'm not sure what gear...

Mine does take some time to warm up as well.

I honestly don't think Ford over priced the Explorer ST compared to competitors like the Durango SRT, but these deep discounts are kind of troubling to see
