Except for a different final drive ratio it is pretty much the same powertrain wise. Interior is completely different, and really nice. Exterior is obviously different also. Pretty much only the powertrain and platform it shares.

I believe the Platinum uses adaptive headlights also, so it’d be even harder to retrofit them into an ST. This was talked about in the previous gen, but it was concluded that getting the headache with the modules on the headlight to agree with the electronics, and losing the blacked out...

Certain fault codes will make the car disengage the FWD part of the AWD system, but a bad diff isn't going to trigger that certain fault code.
