I actually always liked Expeditions before the performance-oriented SUVs came out. I loved the Edge ST…..that was before these Explorer STs came out. Choice was clear.

    Congrats and welcome!

    Hey team

The catalytic heat shields could cause rattling but not cracking on the welds of the down pipes. If the rattling continues it is guaranteed those flex pipes.

As far as I know, production was stopped due to the strikes at the Canadian plant. Ford signed a deal saying they’d produce EVs there to stop the strike. Now, after EVs are showing their true colors and Ford stopped development on any new EVs, I think they settled to build more Super Duties...

The ST-Line only weighs at most 300 pounds less, and with 100 less HP, a worse final drive ratio, worse suspension, worse wheel setup, and worse brake setup it doesn’t stand a chance with equal drivers.

It was. Only the Nautilius continues. It’s all about the driver, but with equal drivers the ST-Line doesn’t stand a chance. But yeah, put an experienced racer behind the wheel of a slower car, a novice will lose any day in the faster car.

Help identify this sound please. 2020 Ford Explorer ST

Unfortunately I don’t have it on hand, but a quick search might result in some finds.

Well first off, the 401a is now standard, so it is the 400a now. Also, ST-Line owners won’t be able to go to the ST Experience. And no, the ST has all the engine, suspensiln upgrades and brake upgrades that’ll beat the ST-Line any day, short course or not.

    Hey team

The rattling is caused by the crappy flex pipes on these cars. I believe there was a TSB on it but unless you have an ESP you probably have to pay out of pocket. Good excuse to get an exhaust. All the common problems on these cars are very apparent, so unless anything has jumped out at you...

Help identify this sound please. 2020 Ford Explorer ST

That sound is perfectly normal. Big thread going around about it, something about Sport mode engaging something.

Almost time to replace 21" Pirellis any recommendation?

You’ll be perfectly fine. Even on Eibachs he would be fine.

    Tire recommendation

Bumper delete mod, just drive a little bit and the tires will make clearance for you by themselves. Lol

Almost time to replace 21" Pirellis any recommendation?

Bruce at Superforged said they were horrible in the snow.

    Tire recommendation

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S or Yokohama DWS006 are two of the best choices.

    New member with 2020 question

Congrats and welcome! Any issues that could pop up would be very apparent. Common issues like AWD MODULE (lots of codes), front diff leak, front diff actuator (drivetrain related codes), cat converter crack (smell), flex pipe rattle, and those are really the only major ones.

    2020 - Help Identify a Possible Problem

Everything sounds normal to me, anything could cause that knocking so it’s hard to pinpoint it.

    Downpipes

Haven’t seen anyone run them due to the fact that they’ll rasp like crazy with an exhaust and aren’t worth the extra emission hale power wise.

    Bad day for the ST

As much as I always say “ST over Platinum always” that difference in mileage and price is worth it to get the Platinum. Unless your in a rush though, I’d wait for the right ST to pop up, Platinums are nice but STs are just different, hard to put in words.

    Bad day for the ST

Seems like a decent deal, I’d ask for new tires and if you could talk them down to like $37k then it’d be a good deal. Is it a CPO car?

    Timberline gone for 25

Don’t think Ford world ever drop prices for those parts, the existing owners are still there, and those people will still probably buy those parts.
