Engine Oil Level Low Disabled?

I have read how a couple people have had thier engines blow and found them low or without oil and never got a warning. When I was making some changes with Forscan in the IPC module I noticed a setting for "Engine Oil Level Low" and it is disabled! Is this because there is another setting elsewhere that controls this warning or maybe this is why people didn't get a warning?

I’m not sure we even have an oil level sensor. In fact I always thought that was a diesel engine thing and maybe a high end car thing. All my diesels had one but I don’t think I’ve ever had a gas car with an oil level sensor. Perhaps others will come in.

I know my Rangers have all had them. They are just made/unmade switches but they are there. Ultimately you should be checking the oil level and not depending on them but still. But if there is no low oil sensor then that would explain why it's disabled.

I went through the docs a few years ago on my '20. No oil level sensor. Might have changed on new models, but I doubt it.

Strange that they would do away with this but I guess they have. All the more reason to be diligent about checking your oil level often!

You have to wonder how much they saved deleting this when they’ve had to replace so many engines under warranty. Most vehicles just have a simple oil pressure switch connected to an idiot light.

I enabled it... however

There is no light on dash to indicate a self test?, when you turn ignition on, but not start
I guess we need to drain the oil and zee if a warning comes on

Same here, replaced my engine at 32k miles when it was bone dry of oil with no warning and was between oil changes. (I think the last oil change I got was a short-fill.) I was absolutely stunned when different techs and obnoxious people on here told me that in 2020 I still had to open the hood and use the dipstick to check my oil. A car that can parallel park itself can't tell me when its most critical fluid is low?? I researched this a bit and was told they stopped installing the sensors. Super weird since my early 2000's BMWs all have that...it's hardly new technology and can't possible cost very much.

It’s definitely not a bad idea to still check your dipstick lol. But I know what you mean. I’ve always just done frequent oil changes. I was pretty shocked to find out it was basically completely dry. Just happy it was covered! Will not be owning this vehicle once the warranty is up. $$$$$

Yeah, as much as they spend on adding stuff to these vehicles (like 14 speakers) yet no oil sensor, really? It makes no sense.

You mean 14 bad speakers! I would have gladly traded two speakers for an oil level sensor
