Hello,

looking at possibly buying an Explorer ST today and just wanted some quick input. It has 70k miles roughly and a decent car fax. While i know that is not the end all or tell the full story..it does say one owner but the oil changes were done every 10k to 10.2k miles. This troubles me somewhat with the horror stories i hear and how people say ford techs swear on the 4 to 5k oil change. Thoughts, suggestions?

Leaving the srt market and really wanting to get into the ST!

I do 10k synthetic oil changes. Honestly, don't plant to keep it past 150k miles though but I care for it like I'm going to keep it a while. More importantly, what repairs have been done on the car? There are known defects on the MY2020. You are well past warranty and close to being past federal emissions warranty.

im not seeing any repairs aside from tires done, recalls and just the oil changes. Its stock not modified to the naked eye. What known issues are there, i see mainly tranny, and phasers

catalytic converter weld cracks, exhaust flex section failures, front axle disconnect actuator leak, front axle boot failures, AWD module grounding, module firmware updates. Plenty more that I consider minor and easily dealt with.

Phasers are very rare in these engines, the 2.7 and 3,5 had that problem commonly, but 3.0 does not.

I think is fine as long as it was synthetic. I feel it’s stretching it a little bit and I wouldn’t have done oil changes that far apart but I think it did the job fine.
