I was installing the all weather floor mats I just purchased and noticed the carpet floor post right where you get has shifted and is loose. I assume it’s the way people have been getting in/out.

Is this something that would be covered under warranty or is the some “wear and tear” loophole?

Does not hurt to try. If denied have them put it in writing. Last thing Ford would want is to document a wear and tear item that has potential to let your floor mat slide up the gas pedal that is mounted to the floor. Safety issue as far as I am concerned, although my wife disagrees with any of my “concerns” especially when it comes to my man parts.
