New Velgen VF9's w/Michelins

Finally got these installed! Followed @UNBROKEN for wheel size at 22x10.5 +30. Tires were a bit of a pain in the ass as so many sizes are unavailable with zero ETA for availability but ended up with Michelin Super Sports in 305 35 22.

The guys at Velgen were super quick to get back to me and they were in the garage within 2 days of paying for them. Haven't been able to get a thorough detail done yet after the snow and ice melted but the pics didn't turn out bad 20220208_160130.jpg 20220208_160117.jpg 20220208_160106.jpg

Yeah I have to agree and it makes a massive difference with having the wheels now flush with the fender edge.

Will have factory 21s available for sale of anyone is interested.

Without a doubt you can feel the bumps in the road more compared to factory. I am riding on H&R springs as well and that to me made a bigger difference than the wheels. That said the wife hasn't complained about it yet and I also didn't pursue the modifications to it in the interest of having the most comfortable ride. I know several other guys recommended doing the 40 over the 35 for sidewall size but to me proportions with this set up are perfect.

I think the VF9's look amazing. I had hit up Jonathan from Velgen back in May about the VF9's and they weren't making them back then and weren't planning on it either. I'm so glad they decided to make them. Your ST looks fantastic with them!

I worked with Adrian and got them directly from Velgen and they were on my doorstep 2 days after I paid for them. Extremely happy with how they look and the dramatic change in stance from having the wider wheels.

Yeah I did the Lamin-x gunsmoke from whoosh motorsports. Going to be removing though as it's just dimmed the headlights too much for my taste. They're not even brighter than an LED street lamp now.

Totally. Vergennes is a great company to work with. I had a set on another car and was very happy with them.

Just wanted to say thanks for starting this thread. I was looking at wheels and decided I love the look of the VF9's. Ordered a set today. Went with 295/40R22. While I prefer the look of the 35, I'm on the road a lot and the roads suck around here so I went with a little taller sidewall for a bit more comfort. Went with Pirelli Scorpion Zero. Not expecting to get great mileage out of them but not my primary desire.

Absolutely! When I was looking around I really thought the VF9's looked great on several Jeeps but couldn't find any pictures of ST's with them but they look awesome now that they're finally on. Thankfully for me this isn't my main vehicle so the ride(which honestly to me isn't dramatically different than stock) wasn't a big deal to me. The Super Sports did have a warranty for 30k miles so we'll see how that goes. Also considering giving this to the wife and getting myself a new toy so the tires will last much longer than if I'm driving. 20220213_152248.jpg

I ran the Super Sports on my CTSV. While the performance was excellent I found them to be pretty noisy and lacking in longevity. IIRC 25K was about all I could get out of them.

And yes, giving the car to your wife MIGHT save you on treadwear depending on your wife. My wife takes after her mother and is either accelerating or braking with not much in between.

I'm hoping to bring the wheels with me when I pick the car up and have them swap so my wife doesn't ask me how much the wheel change cost:LOL:

We got 13,000 miles out of the rear Michelin sport tires we had on our 2004 BMW M3 convertible. Fronts would last twice as long. Guess they were too soft a compound.

Yeah I can imagine I would have a tougher time getting much wear out of those on that set up as well. We'll see what I can get out these but now that I've got the new wheel/tire set up and I'm super happy with how it looks I've started looking for a CT5V Blackwing and in the event I can get one this will go to the wife and she will undoubtedly get much better wear out of them than I will.
