Annnnd it almost sideswipped my brother in laws rental corolla. Following the directions we pulled up next to the front car accordingly and it started backing up... right past the open spot and then started turning right as it was about even with the Corolla... of course I panicked and didn't give a chance to hit it and just slammed on the brakes lol.
Will have to try that again some day.

One time it got too close to the curb otherwise it works pretty flawlessly. I do have to trust it but it never disappoints. It works way better than the first generation of this feature on my 2013 MKZ!

I don’t use it…I just parallel park myself like I have for the last 35 years.

Ironically, those who can't drive very well need the features others take for granted or ignore! I find that it does a better job than I do every time. I don't mind admitting it and also it is very cool technology that I like to put to the test. The same goes for lane centering and intelligent cruise with stop and go. It is all very precise and impressive. And I've been driving for over 36 years! What drives me crazy is on a daily basis I see people with newer high end vehicles and they have the phone held to their ear because they don't know how to pair the bluetooth. LOL Or the ones who drive after dark with their lights off because they don't know about the automatic headlight feature or even worse they think daytime running lights are the same as headlights. Some day a semi will plow into the back of their vehicle because the tail lights are off in the dark.

I’ve tried it for a gag and it works alright but it’s painfully slow. I can P-park faster so I just do it myself. Even though I grew up watching Knight Rider and believing in a car that could drive itself, I don’t trust it and I hate waiting for it so I just do my own parking.

I have tried both the parallel and perpendicular auto parking too. They work, but like mentioned above it is way too slow. Also, I park so far away from other vehicles I never have to negotiate other parked cars.

My wife sucks a parallel parking and if I'm not with her will circle the block several times before she finds one she can just pull into lol. I have no issue p-parking my Tahoe with 5% tint and she give me "the look" every time I do it lol

I am that asshole when I find another ST. But I usually park nose to nose or tail to tail, never beside.
