Been a gearhead all my life. Had my 60s muscle cars, had my family , now it's just the wife and me , married 54 years, still have that muscle car thing in my head.
Have my Corvette for fun have a 2018 Lincoln MKC. Great car, great wife's car.
We have decide that it's just too small for us and grandkids and adult friends. Was looking at the Caddy XT5. Then seen a ST at our local cafe. Oh yeah. Been wanting one ever since. They about the same price range as the Caddy.
So I got a white one at a dealer picked out.
Been haggling over phone.

May wait for 0% interest.
They offered me the ST for $34,000 and my MKC + TTL.
MSRP IS $58,930.

Y'all think I can do better.

Btw thanks for having me.
I've already learned a bunch.

I've not driven one yet.
Hope to this week. Its white with the high performance package.

Beautiful.

Been reading a lot here....y'all got me fired up .
That old muscle car , lots of power, is just in my blood.
Plus all the technology is awesome.

I know it has the Hi performance pack and the 360 driver assist pack.

Welcome aboard. I'm quite a gearhead myself and will be 56 years old real soon. My fun car is also a vette.....2019 C7 Z06 vette that I track occasionally (certified race instructor with NASA). I just recently purchased my ST as well and love it (93 tune and a few mods). I was able to stack some significant discounts and paid over $8,000 less than MSRP. There are deals to be had.

Hi performance pack is 21" wheels with SUMMER Performance tires, red break calipers and performance break pads which are dealer installed. Street pack is red calipers, 21" wheels with A/S tires.

I would like to address your first question, can you do better?

That really comes down to how much you owe on your MKC, how much they're offering for your MKC (I am also interested in condition and mileage of the MKC), and the actual sale price of the ST (not MSRP). Based on MSRP, it appears you're getting just shy of 25K for your MKC. I would expect a sales price of 52-53k and I would expect to get more than 19k for your MKC, but again that depends on equity in the vehicle.

We need a bit more information to make a good judgement on whether or not it is a good deal.

MKC is paid off. We owe nothing .

Its like new inside and out. Been meticulously cared for. All maintenance records , oil, filter and rotate tires every 5000 by dealer. Ceramic coating. Seen very little rain, never snow .
Our daily driver.
Has 40,000 all hwy miles as we live out in boondocks and everything is interstate driving.interior never got dirty. Tires are still good, I believe I could get another 20,000 on them if I keep them rotated.

But I'm still negotiating on the ST trade. The only ST I could find in my area.

I was thinking $24000 for the MKC, they are retailing for $27000 to $30,000.

That's what dealer offered , against MSRP.

Now I don't know if he's giving me that for my car , or using a discount with including my car.
I'm not finished negotiating yet.

I hope I never get too old not to enjoy hot rodding. I had a rare hemi , 68 Super bee , bought new in 68..wish I still had it.

Ya know , we just stopped by the dealer ( as I have been for months, no STs) to check for ST .
Woohoo, they had one , exactly the color and packs I wanted.
So we didn't go in jus got a trade value on my MKC, which they texted to me.
Still no mention of anything but MSRP.
So I still got some negotiating to do.

Don't want to look to anxious either, like I will play hard to get.
Friend of mine told me the dealers are hurting to sell .

Well I kinda like the trade in value (though it could be higher), but I don't like the sales price for a 2020 Explorer ST (unless it is a 2021, but in that case I would look at a 2020). I got 9k off MSRP on mine in August (I bought mine out of Lexington, Pinnacle Ford), but I don't think that is the norm. I would expect no less than 4k off at this point. I wouldn't say it's a ripoff, but I think you could do much better, and it sounds like you're still pushing for better. Keep us updated, I'm interested to see how this turns out.

Yes sir it is a 2021.
I been looking , checking dealers all around West KY , for months, NO STs of any kind.
Was in Paducah for doctors appt , drove thru lot to check , sure nuff there was one sitting under canopy , almost didn't see it. Sales man came out immediately, took a pic of my VIN . Texted me back with my trade value.

So now I'm waiting for them to call me, they will, and then we can see what they're really willing to do.

You’ll like the ST a lot. I bought mine for work and right after that, my company bought me a new car....go figure. I wouldn’t have gotten an SUV for my personal car but now as it turns out, I’m glad I did. I’m also a car guy, 63 years old. 3 Vett’s, last one a C6 Z06 and now I’m looking to replace my very first car; a ‘68 Camaro SS, big block, Muncie 4 speed, 12 bolt. This ST is my first Ford and I’m impressed to say the least.

I'm thinking Jim (Symetry the OP) may have started something, like a Geezer Gear Head Group of ST owners. Mine's still pretty stock and I mostly plan on cosmetic alterations after lowering and sway bar upgrades. I've come from a '69 Mach I to and through many other fast toys and the ST is my favorite so far through these past 47 years of driving.
