When I left for work this morning I found my ST (2020 with 66K on the clock) in Brake Service Mode. I had briefly driven the car the night before with no issues. Prior to driving the car the night before it sat for 8 days while I was out of town and it was crazy cold out. It was four degrees when I left for work. I knew I was in Brake Service Mode because I had almost no stopping power when I was backing out of the driveway. I used a few youtube vids to try and get it out of BSM but was unable to and had to scoot to work so I took another car. I'll try it some more when I get home. Has anyone ever experienced this?

I had my local mechanic use his scan tool to get it back out after I did my brakes.

You might be successful with Forscan. As for the why, I have no idea.

I do remember back in I think '08, both the wheel cylinders on my old K1500 blew out after an ice storm. But then again, they were the original wheel cylinders on a junkyard axle with over 200K miles on it that I'd swapped into my truck. And that ends the useless anecdote.

When I got home from work I played with it and after two tries through the sequence I was able to get it out of BSM. All seems normal, drove it to work this morning. I just can't understand how it got there in the first place, it's not like it's something you could do by accident.

Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate what a cool community this is.

Doesn't it give you cluster warnings when it is in brake service mode? I would continue to troubleshoot why this happened because it is not normal and a huge safety issue.
