I check it cold if I can. The level of the parking garage I'm on is inclined, so I drive up to the top level and let it sit. It takes nearly an hour to get all the oil back down in the pan.

Funny, sometimes the radio in mine is off on start up, and it won't turn on unless I complete a hard reboot.

There's not much to explain. They're both plastic drain plugs. One's one time use/disposable, one's not.

Guess the costs of new drain plugs every oil change started adding up.

You'll never get a consensus on a canned tune here because they're all the same. If that's what you want, then go for it, but a canned tune is no safer or easier to manage than a tune from ZFG or Goosetuned.
