Wow.
People, don’t cut your car up. You can have the whole side panel off in 10 minutes with no broken clips.
There’s a right way to do things.
Factory aesthetic is restored. Zero issues. Took 2 minutes. Pristine factory quality resale is still intact for the entire vehicle (knock on wood). I should've shown that first.

Everywhere I see that this amp is processed and weak to not hurt Ford's paper cone so it seems like it might not do much. You sure its not a gimmick? The paper is more efficient probably. Its actually loud like a real amp?

I had heard the same thing. This thread was created because I'm surprised by the factory amp each day, so I just had to let others know of this great result. I haven't seen this anywhere else on the internet. Also, I just didn't want to mess with panels and electrical wiring in my new vehicle, especially with that auto-start/stop stuff on the battery. So, I tried this idea that I once used with my very old Explorer with the sub amp.

I'll describe it like this...
I previously had a Rockford Fosgate P300-10 (considered 300 watts) in the same location of my 2017 Explorer. This powered sub has plenty of bass for most people in an SUV or hatchback (it could hurt my ears with certain songs)...
Now, in my 2025 ST, my old JBL 10" sub in a big bandpass box (sealed one side, ported one side) using the factory amp is just as loud, solid, and punchy as the P300-10 aftermarket. In fact, because of my larger box, it also hits on lower frequencies than the P300-10. For example, the last 30 seconds of Drake's new song "STFU" hits very deep and sounds amazing (just heard this after work).
So, if wired correctly as I've explained, it sounds like entry-level aftermarket sub amplification (but you must use dual voicecoil sub, 4 ohm each coil, high efficiency, ported box). This is according to my ears, chest, rear-view mirror movement, and friends who commented on it, even from outside. Last, I metered each channel regularly hitting 75 watts and sometimes spiking higher. For DVC direct inputs, these channels get combined (so, 150+ watts). Now, my only issue is that it's a bit too loud and punchy for my mids and highs with bass at -7, so I block the bass port a bit to cut down on punchy bass, and that works well as a budget solution. I still get the right amount of bass now, including lower frequencies... it sounds balanced right now. Great sounding factory system overall.

Last, there are no issues with active noise cancellation or fake engine sounds. I was also worried about these things, but it's just a clean bass signal on all frequencies without any mess. So, it simply sounds like an entry-level dedicated sub amp, working on all frequencies as it should. To me, this is great result for not messing with the vehicle's engine compartment and electrical system or pulling panels everywhere... Hope this helps.

Thanks! Lots of info. Thats what I hoped. I used to have a JBL BassPro powered sub so thats kind of the same. Agree that running power is a pain so this could be good. I set fade back and now I hear the stock sub that actually bumps on some songs. This all sounds good. The stereo already sounds more like a dealer upgrade now so Im happy. Adding a box like this could be the next level. Thanks.
