The myth around intakes is huge.
Just use whichever one you prefer. I use a K&N open lid, and same thing with the lid close, I think the whole “hot air” myth is a bit misunderstood. My suv runs 11.48 without any issues.

K&N makes great fikters but that intake is prob worse than the OEM. Doing one run fast doesnt show how good an intake is. Hot lap it and let's see how fast the second and third runs are

I did two back-to-back runs without any cooldown.

One with the lid on and one with the lid off, just to see if there would be any difference since the intake would be pulling hot air directly without the cover. I didn’t notice any difference at all. On the first run, I did 11.50, and surprisingly, on the second run without the lid, I ran 11.48.

K&N, S&B, and aFe Power all follow the same basic concept. The only difference is that the S&B seems to be the best of the three, probably because of its larger piping diameter, but who really knows.

All in all, unless you’re chasing every last hundredth of a second, whatever intake option you pick wont be different then the next.

.2 in the quarter is a big difference man. Especially since you went from the restrictive setup to the more open setup. Try that same test but do it in reverse and see how different it is.

Apologies I def miss read that I would still like to see that test in reverse

Check your math, it’s 0.02 seconds, 2 hundredths of a second. Not two tenths,

Yeah I def looked at that real quick and miss read that. 2 hundredths is negligible. I had better results with my AFE with the lid off than the lid closed by more than that. I don't know the rest of his setup though
