I recently realized my car is not supposed to only get 189 miles on a full tank and did a little experimenting and on eco mode doing 14 mpg and drove 1.1 miles and my miles went down by 4 miles! I did a further test and was doing 30mpg and it went down by nearly 10 and is now under 160 miles

That miles to empty is constantly recalculating, and every driver drives differently, so I’d say it’s just the way it’s been drive in the past.

I've noticed this as well. I drive in Sport Mode Monday through Friday. On the weekends I drive 40 miles In Eco mode to the firing range and the "Range will decrease by 5 or 10 miles. I've noticed this a couple of different times. No big deal for me. Like @2020FordRaptor said, the ST is just recalculating constantly based on your recent driving.

The range can decrease just sitting at a stop light. A few minutes of highway driving with the cruise on and the range will increase. It goes up and down based on the PCM predicting what the fuel economy will be based on the current driving behavior.

This one is definitely more reactive than what I’ve seen in other models. In the past, the range estimate seemed to be based more on your average from the last fill-up, but this one adjusts constantly based on current driving. That’s fine—it actually seems to do its job pretty well. When I first got the car, it was mostly city driving until I took it on a highway trip. After filling up, it showed 320 miles to empty, which I knew couldn’t be right. But during the first 80 miles of the trip, the range climbed a bit, then held steady around 330 miles to empty for another 60 miles. It was kind of funny to watch.

When I fill up, my first drive to work (22 miles one-way) uses only a fraction of those miles to empty.
