WTH caused my exhaust to sever after the cat?!

I started hearing what sounded like a small exhaust leak a couple weeks ago. Figured no big deal, I'll have the dealer look at it when I get the oil changed. A couple days ago, was driving a mile from home and heard the exhaust completely opened up - figured it was the loud car in front of me, until I realized it was my car. A few minutes later, I heard the loud rattling of the exhaust pipe dragging on the ground. It dragged for about a 1/4 mile.

I don't see any damage or dents on the pipe or converter. I thought maybe this was theft but I work from home 100% of the time and the car is kept in the garage. The car has 43k miles to it and has a "Diamond" care warranty and am hoping this covers the exhaust. Worried that if I get this welded at a shop then this will void my warranty.

Any ideas or thoughts? Taking it to the dealer this morning. Thanks.

One of the most common failure points on these cars. With your mileage warranty will cover it.

Thanks. Any ideas to what could cause this type of failure? Never had an exhaust system fail this way.

I’ve heard these fail after the cat but that’s wild. Not a seam or flex section in site that shit just failed from straight metal fatigue

Fight that or find a proper dealer. Can't even claim "mods" caused that even if there were any.
