Front axle popped out during spring install

Hey Folks. I just got done swapping out springs on my '22. Everything went pretty smoothly until the test drive. When I found out that somewhere in the process the driver side front axle popped out. I think maybe when I dropped the knuckle out, it maybe slid out? Ended up taking that side apart and pushed it back somewhat into place. I still have quite a bit of the splines exposed, however. I have never replaced an axle by myself . Surely I am missing something.... Any input is greatly appreciated.

There’s a clip that locks it into place.
The c clip? I see that, but I can't even get it pushed in far enough to get to that c clip.

You’re probably gonna have to pop the axle nut off and get the axle free so you have bang it in there and seat the clip.

Very good. That's my plan, just ran out of time today. Don't really want to drive too much like this Thanks once again!

You don't want to drive it at all until it's slipped back on.
