SO spilled soda on the gear shift a couple of weeks ago. we wiped everything on the surface, but I think some of it got inside. I can still shift, but it's sticky sometimes. Does anyone know if it's safe to disassemble the rotary dial? I’ll disconnect the battery to be safe, but I’m not sure. Has anyone had to disassemble one of these before?

Its probably best not to mess with the internals of that rotary
switch. A replacement can be had and that will insure safe continued use.

Thank you! I’ll probably go that route. I just need to find the part number and hope it doesn’t require any reprogramming.

Part is easy to find, should require no programming out of the box. Ford part is either # R1MZ7P155J or # R1MZ7P155E Check with your Local dealer or order online but price ranges from 150 to 250.

I think this one would work.
