Just wanted to put together a quick write-up. When I started researching tunes for this vehicle, FP, Goose, LMS, and ZFG came up repeatedly. All had good information and solid reputations. In the end, ZFG felt like the right choice for me. Nothing against the others—I’ve used FP once and LMS twice, and Goose is highly regarded. For the record, I’ve paid ZFG the same as everyone else and followed their standard process, so I don’t have a dog in the fight. Just sharing my experience.

The Process

I’ve noticed a lot of complaints about turnaround time, and I think many of them come from people submitting logs but not opening a new request in Tuning Central afterward. In my case, the timeline was smooth.

It took about a week to receive the RTD4. I already had the app on my phone and an existing account, so I just selected ZFG as my tuner. Once the RTD4 arrived, I plugged it into a USB-C power source, connected my phone, and verified communication. Pulling the stock file and submitting it was quick—the RTD4 is fast. I only used the phone app, no laptop.

I submitted the stock info on Tuesday before Thanksgiving and had the baseline tune back on Wednesday—very impressive for a holiday week. I did a couple of 2500–6000 RPM 3rd-gear pulls that afternoon and sent them in. I received my Rev 1 tune on Saturday, the 29th. After loading it on Monday, I logged a full-send 0–60 run (the first or second shift at WOT is a handful) and another 2500–6000 RPM pull. Last night, around 10 p.m., they confirmed that Rev 1 looked good and told me to enjoy (same-day turnaround).

The key is simple: follow their FAQs, submit everything through Tuning Central, and the process is easy. I get that the RTD4 app isn’t everyone’s favorite, but syncing, loading tunes, and uploading logs is genuinely simple.

I emailed this morning to ask for clarification on disabling Ford’s automatic software updates. My only real gripe so far is that when setting up to data log, it can take way too long for the RTD4 to actually begin logging—especially when you’re already trying to find a safe stretch of road, drive and use the app.

The Tune

Out of Tow, Daily Driver, Performance, and Race, I went with Performance. I thought about Daily Driver but opted for Performance so I’d have the extra power on tap when I want it. I don’t drag race or hit it from a dig at red lights—it’s just going to be my daily (always in Sport mode), about 250 miles a week plus occasional road trips.

So far, it feels pretty similar to stock in normal driving, which others have mentioned. The big difference is from about one-third throttle to full send—it definitely hits harder. This morning on the interstate, I had open road and rolled into it from 50–80 mph (not even full throttle). It got there noticeably quicker, and I swear the engine has a different, more aggressive howl now. Where it used to feel like it was running out of steam, it doesn’t anymore.

From a red light, it’s just ridiculous. And the best part is you don’t have to beat on it to enjoy driving it. That’s exactly what I wanted.
