Having an issue that I can't nail down (yet). CEL came on, FordPass app reports a "issue with emissions" error. Used a scanner to pull the code....don't have the scanner in front of me and don't remember EXACTLY what it said, but something along the lines of a "small evap leak". I read online that it might be the fuel cap, so I did the whole "insert and remove the funnel several times". Issue did NOT go away. I used the scanner, reset the code....came back several days later.
Here's the thing. Occasionally, I'd say once out of every 20 or 30 cranks, it struggles to crank. By that I mean, press the button and it turns over for much longer than normal before it cranks. NOT an battery/electrical issue....it is turning over super fast...completely normal. It just takes longer to start. Once it starts, all is fine. You can turn it off immediately and start again it it will likely start 100% normal.
Hoping to get advice from the experts: Can this "evap" issue cause this problem? And if yes, what is the likely culprit? I've read that it could be the fuel cap, although I wouldn't think that would cause a slow start, maybe I'm wrong.
I've also read that it "could" be the evap valve under the hood. I found a great video to show how to replace but not sure if that can cause the slow start.
Any advice? I believe I have the "extended" warranty from Ford (going to verify) but not sure if it would cover this. My car is just under 60k miles.
