What is the proper protocol for these vehicles far as proper break in? On any of my new vehicles, I have always taken it easy on the first 1k miles but have read different statements regarding the rear differential fluid, some say it needs to be replaced after the first 500 miles, others say no need to replace till it reaches 30-60k.
A relative of mine had his ST's rear end overhauled recently under warranty. Service dept didnt tell him anything regarding the break in procedure, drove it on the hwy the same day he took it. I've always read regarding being easy the first 1k miles before doing any hard driving/launching or towing. Others however had said 500 miles is enough and no fluid change needed. I told him to take it easy on it right now, maybe too late seeing he's already put 400 miles since the rear end was fixed
I have never done any fluid change on any new vehicles till it reaches 30-35k miles, never had any issues either including my Platinum. Is the 500 mile fluid change still true on today's vehicles and proper break in?
