Gas Tank Popped Open

Walking to my car this morning I saw the gas tank popped open. I filled up with gas yesterday , left Houston and got back to Dallas but gas tank was shut. Looked this afternoon and it was popped open, reviewed Ring camera and it shows that it popped open by itself. Any idea what could’ve it made it open? And don’t say a ghost lol

Maybe apiece of stuff in the catch latch or broken spring.
Either way.

Since owning my ST I can tell this is finicky. I'll get gas and press it in and it will catch for a second then pop open, I then do it again and it stays. I plan to get a backup spring.
