Just wanted to put this out there. It's definitely not a new thing, but I feel it can help some members who just acquired a new vehicle and are looking for a nice inexpensive mod. One of the first things a lot of Ford owners change is the GIANT blue oval on the grill and rear lid. When I got my ST I started researching and found plenty of options for the oval but most are $50 plus and require removal of the front bumper. I decided to go for the inexpensive fast method and bought a $8 can of Plasti-Dip. I think the results came out fantastic. You can go with matte black or glossy, I chose matte. Simply mask off the area around the oval and spray, no disassembly of anything required. I did 3 coats, and as you can see, the grooves and detail of the emblem still show. I'm lovin it.
Now, there are plenty of stories online about how the dip will eventually peel off and flake, but most of these stories apply to people who dip wheels and then hit curbs or scratch them changing tires. In this application, it's an emblem that doesn't see much wear, and I think it's an awesome option. And also, in the event that it does peel, it's not a big project to just peel it off and spray again. Here are some pictures of my front and rear emblems after one month of being dipped.
