Trailer Brake Controller Plug Location, and Redarc Install

No problem. I'm glad I could help. I'm sorry I don't have pictures of the switch install. But I found it easier to drill the large hole from the back so I could be sure the switch would fit, then the small hole from the front so I could be sure it was straight.

Trailer Brake Controller Plug Location, and Redarc Install

It wasn't buried at all on my car. Slide your hand under the knee air bag and you'll feel the plastic vents and right behind is the plug. My second picture is looking straight up from the floor mat. If you sit in the driver's seat and put your foot on the brake pedal, your toes are pointing...

Trailer Brake Controller Plug Location, and Redarc Install

The panel takes a bit of force to pop free. Start at one of the upper corners and tug straight back towards the driver's seat, not downwards.

    New SYNC Update 23188

Updated mine to 23188 from 21098. When I first tried to update I let it go for an hour but it never finished. I read someone here who had success by just leaving the USB stick in (can't find that post right now) so I did the same. On the way home from work the next day it finished the update...

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Thanks. I like how low the Lethals are, but for the towing I do I should probably choose the Steedas.

What did they revise? I'm deciding on what springs to get and this may steer me closer to Lethal's springs.

    New Sync 3 Version 3.4.22251

iPads and other tablets aren't designed for the direct sunlight, heat, freezing temperatures, cycling of those temperatures, or vibrations that automotive electronics are engineered to withstand.

    New Sync 3 Version 3.4.22251

Thanks. I think I may give it another month or so.

    New Sync 3 Version 3.4.22251

Has 23188 been verified to fix the problems that 22251 had, or are we still waiting on a good update?

Trailer Brake Controller Plug Location, and Redarc Install

I installed a Redarc trailer brake controller the other day. And in researching, I found the explanations of where to find the plug in the car to be lacking (and ultimately incorrect). So I figured I'd make a post about it to help others in the future. I have a 2021 Explorer ST, I do not know...

TSB on water leaks on rear hatch and radio module damage...

Huh... I wonder if this is the water leak the first ST I looked at was having. I was told it was behind the dash, but maybe they were mistaken. Would have saved me a lot of headaches if I had known... Ah well. Guess I'll check mine.

What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

Installed the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty trailer brake controller on my lunch break. I took a number of pictures because the current descriptions of how/where to find the plug under the dash are mostly wrong; at least for the 2021 ST. This afternoon I plan to finish making my ST into a great tow...

Would you upgrade to LCI 2024 ST or go with something else?

It looks to me that the 2024 isn't going to be much different from your current ST. If your current car isn't giving you trouble, keep it. It'll be cheaper and you can save up for a bigger upgrade down the road.

    Top View Camera Issue

Mine is like that too. That huge black box also sucks for trying to locate the corners of the car. I'm just learning where the limits actually are in regards to the cameras' views. I'm used to being able to pull a huge Yukon into a parking spot first try, but I have to re-adjust this Explorer...

    Navigation Screen showing half blank

I lucked out. The 2021 I just picked up has 21098 installed. I've got updates turned off and I'm just going to let it ride until the new update comes out to see how it does before I do anything.

    Just drove home a 2021.

Yeah, those are on the list. But next has to be a trailer brake controller.

    Just drove home a 2021.

Thank you. It's just stock for now, so if you've seen a black ST, you've seen mine. But I snapped a pic at lunch today. I also added the first mod. Nothing big, just a small interior mod. If this were a manual, traditionally my first mod would be a shift knob. But since it's an auto, I...

    Just drove home a 2021.

It's unfortunate how poorly some OEMs treat the infotainment. I used to own a 2019 Tacoma, and while the rest of it was pretty good, the infotainment system was horrendous. The DIC in the cluster was a frustrating wreck, and even the button layout on the steering wheel was counter-intutive...

    Just drove home a 2021.

Thanks. I have a small Sync problem, so I've been looking through the Sync threads already.
