What Have You Done To Your Explorer ST Today

I put the steeda tower brace on mostly for cosmetics. I'm sure it will help in super aggressive turns but I also wasn't expecting to feel a real difference. The stock brace is hardly that, while it will offer some support it is just a flimsy piece of stamped steel.

    Thermal R&D 2.5" installed

They should have ample room to adjust with the nice clamps that Thermal provides, plenty of wiggle room to adjust. Reminds me I need to get back under and re-adjust mine. Had to take one muffler off to do the Steeda diff brace and I was in a rush to put it back on not lining it up perfectly...

25 ST Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power

People please get a OBD code reader like OBDlink. I keep the ZFG tune device that also reads and can reset codes in my ST for just in case I get wrenched. Used it once when i got on her and forgot to take off traction control resulting in the vehicle dropping power at WOT causing an overboost...

    Whirring noise while driving

I've been noticing many rear diff issues for these vehicles. It seems like a pretty beefy unit but looks can be deceiving I guess. Could be a design, quality, or maintenance issue. With the myriad of rear diff stabilization products on the market, I believe that points to a major design issue...

My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

If you aren't modding and hard launches, you should be pretty ok to drive it "spirited" , i mean that is one of the reasons you paid extra for an ST right? Just keep a half quart overfill on the oil for extra insurance.

My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

Yea reading over in the oil pressure / pan upgrade thread and testing that ZFG is doing, it is obvious that there's oiling problems with the 3L ecoboost under hard launches with severe drops in pressure, especially if the oil gets below even a half qt overfill level. We're throwing an...

My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

Just wow, with the not crazy intervals using the Ford recommended oil thats pretty nuts if the oil broke down to a point where it destroyed the engine. Would love to see an oil analysis done to see if the oil really failed, or there was some other oil system related issue like the pump breaking...

    2025 st digital dial options?

Yep you bought it already, their effort to please and wow you ends there except when they are forced to do something from the govt or it results in saving them $$ somehow.

    2025 st digital dial options?

This is the biggest complaint I have with the user experience of the ST so far. Terrible gauge options and customization. I mean put a LCD screen there, make it freaking able to be customized, its one of the big pluses of a digital dash (well Ford missed that part of the memo). How the heck can...

    Voltage/battery management issue

Could be the starter solenoid / relay. Also get one of the supercapacitor based jump start bricks. Using that with the worst of batteries will tell you if it’s a battery problem or not. You mentioned burning electric smell when this started sounds like something fried like the solenoid.

    CVF Downpipes Quality (Good Thing)

Awesome. I'm loving my cvf downpipes paired up with the thermal 3". I paid a shop to install (Ford specialist), they also said they were fun. I bet removing them is way easier now that they are in with all the extra room provided by the lack of the stock cats being in the way.

FenFAB oil pan initial test results.

Just preordered one of these fenfab oil pans. I'll be grabbing up the PPE metal tranny pan also when its time for my first fluid change. Figure with all the added power, need to provide supporting mods to ensure reliability and safety.

Oil Life - Time vs Mileage

I'd go by the oil manufacturer's specification. Typically unless stated motor oil is usually XX miles or 6 months whichever first. The 6 months is there for situations where people go on many short trips which actually wears out oil quicker than just steady long distance mileage because the...

My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

Jeeze, i mean "locked up" is so non specific. As long as they can't find a reason to deny your warranty you should be fine. I'd still want to specifically know what specifically happened.

    Rear End Failure

All these rear diff stories, ugh. I recently installed amsoil 75W-110 gear lube and Steeda Brace. I have the Steeda Bushings, Whoosh bolt, and JXB Bushing insert sitting on my bench ready to go when I have time. I'm hoping by securing up the rear diff will avoid future problems. It may be...

My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

Intervals don't appear to be an issue 4500 is pretty decent even for a synth-blend and not pushing it too hard. Any details on what the actual failure was, you have a right to know it is your vehicle. Saying "oil related" is extremely vague. Either it ran low on oil, lost oil pressure, oil...

My 2020 ST started knocking 2 days ago on morning cold start.

What was the stated cause of the engine failure, aka what failed? Also what is your oil change intervals?

    Rear End Failure

Maybe another case of them installing a diff type with the wrong "ratio". I can see that messing up the PTU, things not spinning at the right speeds when the vehicle mechanical and electrical systems expect them to be pushing things to the point of failure. Mental note , if I ever need a new...
