Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

And my comment stands. As I posted, C&D tested both vehicles and one thing I've learned through research is never try to use test results from different sources if you can stay with one testing source. You're not doing that, so no, not a driver's race...

22 Iconic Silver in the driveway!

I thought the Stinger was one sharp looking ride. KIA nailed the styling with that car and I got many compliments on it as well. As for sleeping, I use a bed ...

22 Iconic Silver in the driveway!

My Stinger GT AWD was 100% bone stock (as is my ST), and it did feel a decent amount faster. C&D ran to 60mph in 4.6 seconds with their GT AWD, so 6 tenths is noticeable. Talking tunes, they have them for Stinger's as well! Here's one with a tune/CAI running 12.6's @ 111 mph: But don't get...

Thanks for the props. And yes, even coming from a decidedly faster Stinger GT AWD I'm having tons of fun with the ST!

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

I said "with the same engine", no dice comparing hybrid to the 3.0L. Seems you missed the Car & Driver tests that I researched. Here they are: https://www.caranddriver.com/lincoln/aviator 2020 Lincoln Aviator Black Label AWD 3.0-liter V-6 400 hp/415 lb-ft 0-60 mph: 6.0 sec ¼-mile: 14.6 sec @ 98...

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

Starting at $6k more, the heavier Aviator is a second slower with the same engine as the ST and has more subtle body lines. Not what I was looking for. I see the ST as the perfect balance of price, performance, styling, interior design and mpg. Towing is a non issue for me. I've owned high...

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

As annoying as those items might be to you, the option of spending $20k more on an SRT will make them much less noticeable!

Oooh, SRT guys must just love you! Lol

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

In reality then, the ST shouldn't be compared to either. The RT is sluggish and about the same price. The SRT is notably faster but profoundly more expensive.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

It's okay to have one or two additional topics going on in a thread, that's what happens! The Lincoln 3.0 has the same exact hp/torque rating as the Explorer ST (400hp/415hp), so they are identical.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

Taking into account price alone, all arguments comparing Explorer ST vs. Durango SRT (including the inevitable "bring Explorer ST up to Durango SRT power levels") should be considered moot.

Guess you didn't watch the vid I posted from TwinForce_Fusion. Lol

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

The problem here is in terminology ... What is "basic" to one man is "complex" to another.

Why we didn't buy an Explorer ST, and other various thoughts

Compared to the 2.7L, the 3.0L revs higher, makes more torque lower, has a cast aluminum block and bigger turbos. TwinForce_Fusion explains it here:

When I raced Stangs, I modded all of them to one degree or another. But in recent years (maybe it's because I'm getting older) I've become an absolute stickler for keeping my cars bone stock. Soooooo ....how much hp do the ST's make on a tune? Lol

Ditto. Much respect for our Armed Forces. We had a guy in the Department who was a Navy Seal in 'Nam. And a family member just passed away who was a battle veteran of WWII, part of the forces that liberated Germany form the Nazi's.

Hi Ho! I had a KIA Stinger GT in black, the best color in the world but the toughest to keep clean. But you're gonna enjoy every time you wash it. (y):)
