    help ordering CV axle?

Ordered parts from Rockauto... seen so many different PN for these, would love to know if I can do visual inspection if I got the revised boot on my CV's

    help ordering CV axle?

Edit: I think O'Reilly's precision brad will be my quickest, best, bet... but I only see the left.. I deduced the right P/N is FD86015 (because left-front is #14, and rear is #16 & #17). The specs match up EXCEPT for the lengths... can someone verify if the left CV axle is longer than right...

    help ordering CV axle?

Urgently need front left (and right?) CV axles... looks like dealer has backorder (L1MZ-3A427-G, left no right)... driving 100 miles a day @ 120k miles and worried about compounding issues. Considering autozone's duralast and O'Reilly's precision branded parts but can't find right and left...

    Fastener thread dump

There's gotta be something that'll work for this oil pan cover part... I find it hard to believe Ford tech's don't have a solution other than replace the whole cover (thanks @GearHead_1 for the pic). Looking at merc's similar part it's too small (according to amazon description) "7mm x 8mm" ref...

    Fastener thread dump

@Cruising68 yea I see the universal types online and personally don't care so long as the head size is the same/ uses the same tool. But especially with the plastic fasteners or integrated washers, it's nice to read reviews from other Ford owners.

    Fastener thread dump

Not really sure the best place to start this thread, but I'd appreciate a thread where people can post (amazon) links to common fasteners and maybe a quick review. Probably a good idea to id location for better visibility. I'll start: >> Engine Cowl, fender liner, undercarriage, W712196-S300...

    Stuck drain plug

@WaferTech not ideal solutions but solutions nonetheless.. Thanks for doing that leg work on the drain plug [pray]

    Stuck drain plug

Howdy all, attempted to change oil this weekend but couldn't loosen the drain plug for my front differential. Tried a breaker bar. Went so far as to use a impact driver for a couple short bursts... anyone else have this problem? Any advice? Unrelated note: anyone have a PN for the front...

    Transmission Oils, first timer

Tell that to the last guy lol.. they must've used an impact driver the last time... talking to a Amsoil Explorer rep he says Front diff drain is difficult, uses a 18" ratchet... idk... maybe cause my car was still a little warm?

    Transmission Oils, first timer

Thanks everyone! @Cdubya your reply came clutch during last minute tool gathering. Ended up getting something similar to this but never ended up getting to use it... Started with front diff, cause I figured if I did something wrong the computer would take over with RWD only. Got the fill plug...

    Transmission Oils, first timer

Thank you gentlemen! @Cruising68 @Cdubya Compiling information this week, planning to do the work this weekend. Personally, I feel motorcraft leaves he least variables so I'm go with that... I see a lot of Amsoil on the forums though

    Transmission Oils, first timer

Could use some help/ resources on changing oils for front and rear diff, and transfer case. A few questions: Is this a good idea? I'm doing it for peace of mind, not because I've noticed anything out of ordinary. 86.5k miles, previous owner maintained vehicle per dealership. Ordered...

    Offroad wheel and tire

That isn't something I considered. Thanks again for holding my hand through my first rim purchase. Or visa versa. But yeah, not a terribly big deal for me, <30 miles out of nearly 1400, round trip. Looks like I found a good deal on a set of 255/50r20's that came off an explorer. 2.3% smaller...

    Offroad wheel and tire

Eh.. for my secondary set of tires? Not really worth it when I do 110% the speed anyways lol Speed accuracy is the only reason right? The power isn't tuned to the radius of tires correct? I'm kind of a purist, so I'll get onboard, but I'm also kinda cheap CHances are I'm getting...

    Offroad wheel and tire

Update: 265/6018 seems to run ~$50 less per and closer to stock sizing. 1/4" less clearance for $200 a set, bet. 245/6518 may provide more availability regarding rims.

    X4 thanks!

    Offroad wheel and tire

Alright so this is what I want, I think: I see stock Explorers are 245/60R18... but idk why, no cost savings, .75" lesser clearance than my choice.

    Offroad wheel and tire

My dumbass, I knew I was missing something. 18" then

    Offroad wheel and tire

SOmeone is going to say "I wouldn't trust 50 rims." Me neither lol I guess I'll bring a magnet
